Front brakes having the typical problems, pulls to the right, but not from alignment or suspension issues.
Hard shift 1st to 2nd.
Transmission oil cooler lines leaking at the crimps
Engine light on
Leaking coolant fluid.
When everything is working, the truck feels and drives great. I, along with many others, question why I purchased an American truck in the first place. It's not as if Chevy engineers forgot about silicone and other traditional gasketing materials... These problems seem to be engineered failures.
I have a 1997 Silverado 1500 and I have 162,000 miles reading on the odometer. This truck still runs like I bought yesterday. The only problem I have come upon is the coolant leak. But that was cake. I would just like to say that with a little care this truck can go a long way.
I also have a Chevrolet 1500 and it really works well, sometimes gives me trouble. The first is that the engine light has not gone off in days. When it does radiator fluid that leaks into the passenger seat by the air conditioner duct.
The power steering fluid leaks and the engine sometime leaks oil please just tell gm to try and make a litle better engines not just gas eaters.
I brought a 1997 Chevy Silverado and it drove great. Mine also pulls to the right. Now it has a problem with running at low rpm's. Any good suggestions on what it is would be helpful! All in all I am pleased with my truck. My check engine light is on 75% of the time also, that is typical with chevy though!
I've had a couple of problems as the rest of you have described. The coolant leak I have taken care of. I read on another posting where others took their trucks to garages and spent hundreds. I took the advice of a guy who said he simply tightened every bolt on the intake and the problem was fixed... worked for me too. The wiper problem can be fixed by simply removing the electronic module and re-soldering every connection.
I got a 1996 silverado it's a nice truck, but I t gives me problem with the pulling to when I hit like 38 mph the fornt starts to shake also when I break kind of hard and its not the wheel alingment or the suspension I kouldt get it fixed!!!
I have a 97 Silverado. The check engine light's on. There are no sounds from the engine. It runs great. It does idle at low rpms. What could it be?
