Although I have only owned this vehicle for a brief period of time, (1500 miles) I absolutely love it. So far I have not run into any of the expensive maintenance problems posted by other owners on this site, but again, I have only driven it for a short period of time.
The vehicle has a little over 100,000 miles on it. No rust. All electrical parts function properly – i.e. windows, locks, seats, wipers, ect. Turns over on the first try. Doors do not sag and sound solid when opened and closed. Clear coat is in almost perfect shape. Leather interior is immaculate, with no rips or tears. Suspension is good. Ride is exceptionally smooth, on road or off. Other than little nit pickin’ problems listed above, this thing is great! I fixed the drivers side door interior light switch by removing it and cleaning the contacts with WD40 and a wire brush. Replaced the old Jensen 5.25” speakers with JBL two ways. JVC CD player on the way. The title shows one previous owner, and the car seems to be very well maintained. I plan on sparing no expense on preventative maintenance in order to avoid as many future foul ups as possible. It is my opinion the car was driven up to 100,000 miles and just traded in for the mileage alone. Whatever their reasons might have been, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to them for allowing me to score a really awesome ride! Feels so much more solid than the 94 Nissan Pathfinder that went through 3 transmissions in 6 years that I swapped even for it.
What can I say about this Grand Daddy of all luxury SUV’s? I don’t know where to begin. All I know is that the wife is starting to get jealous. This thing has it all. Classic looks, plush, roomy leather interior, and plenty of power on or off road. Feels like I am driving a Sherman Tank down the highway. Huge, heavy body and solid build are such a welcome change from the lightweight, plastic construction that seems to be prevalent in today's SUV’s. Only detraction so far is the terrible gas mileage. Drinks enough gas to make hippies scowl at me when I pass them hitch hiking down the freeway. I will gladly sacrifice a huge hole in the ozone layer and let my grandkids deal with solar radiation so I can drive this beast. I plan on driving this thing until the wheels fall off! They just don’t make em’ like this anymore.
I could not agree with you more. It is a pleasure to really "drive" a car in this world of minivans & econo boxes. I have only had my wagoneer for 1 week now, but the smile I get on my face every time I pull up next to some sissy & I see the longing he has to behind the wheel of such an animal will be worth all the hours I have ahead of myself restoring my diamond in the rough.
