"Best I have ever driven, and I have driven a lot!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

One problem in Feb 2000 in Wi. The throttle stuck when I pulled away, it was about -35 F, after about a half second it came back and I was off again.

General comments?

I love my GC Limited!!!! Just that one problem.

Other than that she handles great, snow, ice, mud and gravel, she keeps on going and asks if that is all you have!

I am considering buying another one in 2003. However, I might go for the new Hummer. It is supposed to be very comparable.

I have gone on a few road trips of over 6 hours and I love it. The comfort is really good. Engine purrs like a kitten, and the transmission is also really good.

I think a lot of people have problems because they simply do not know how to drive it. It cannot pull a train, you have to know how to drive it and it will take you there and back!

Check them out, you will be surprised!

I agree, many people cut down the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I don't see why. If you treat the Jeep good and don't abuse it, then it will run forever and run good!

MOST of the Jeep Grand Cherokees with Quadradrive have drivetrain problems. There is a known fault with the differentials and transfer case on the Quadradrive models which Chrysler refuses to or is unable to address. I treat my vehicles with kid gloves and so do my friends, performing regular maintanence and using only the best parts and fluids. I do not tow or abuse my vehicle or even take it offroad and yet I have experienced these problems and so have 3 friends of mine with 99-01 Grand Cherokees with Quadradrive.

It isn't because people are abusing them, it is called BAD ENGINEERING on Chrysler's part.

I have a Toyota Landcruiser and a Toyota 4Runner and reliability has been OUTSTANDING compared to this piece of junk.

I TOTALLY disagree...

Jeep used to be very good, but now, it's selling junk!

I've taken excellent care of my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and still, it has problems. I've had problems with the fuel pump-unable to start, shocks that leak, and a transmission that keeps making noises. Jeep says it's normal, but what a waste of $35k!

I'm going back to GM.. where the REAL QUALITY S.U.V.'S COME FROM!

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I do the scheduled maintenance, and I have had no major problems with it now at 45,000. It still purrs like a kitten, and the comfort is great. Everything still works perfect.. not bad for almost a 4 year old vehicle. It still looks and drives brand new. Most people think it is. I have had other Chrysler products, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Neon, and yet another new Chrysler product I bought a few weeks ago a 2002 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXI. I have had my share of problem with the service department, but they always come through in the long run.. even replacing my leaking head gasket on my Dodge Neon that was over its warranty period by almost 8,000 miles, they paid 75%. Guess you gotta know who to talk to. Jeep Grand Cherokees aren't bad vechilces! I would buy another. Keep buying American!

I have owned two Jeep Grand Cherokees, one bought in 1998 and another in 2001. The first one was ruined by niggly problems (like the air con never working in Summer) that the dealer was never able to fix. Yet still, after having several other vehicles in between, I went back to Jeep and bought the latest, more roundy model, in 2001. With my kids in the back and approaching a junction, the brakes failed for a few seconds. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it and was quite prepared to let me drive away with it. That was it for me, never again will I buy a non-European car.

My father bought a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo as his present to himself for completing graduate school at MIT. Our other car at the time was a 1990 Mazda 626 GT.

The Mazda was still running great in 2000, but my parents decided it was time to get a new car. They ended up coming home one day with a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, because they liked the '94 so much.

We have never had any real problems with either of the cars. We took the '94 on a 11-week, 11,000 mile trip across the country and back. Now that I have a license and need to drive to school, my mom got a new car and I have the 2000 Jeep. This summer I was working at a camp where I had to drive it up and down a mountain every single day. No problems. I think mine is a great car and I love it.

I just turned in my 2000 Grand Cherokee and miss it already. It was virtually problem free. I loved the size and the way it handled. It was a leased car and the only reason that I'm not getting another (it was my second) is that I really need the third row seat for "kid hauling". I'm going with the Honda Pilot because it offers the third seat and is about the same size as my Jeep.

I own a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I have had it for a year now and have yet to have a single problem. I do have a rear lamp failure - Just to lazy to go back and find out which one is out. Other than that I love the comfort of heated seats, defrosting mirrors, auto dimming mirrors, and my favorite the radio controls behind the steering wheel.

I own a 2000 3.1 Turbo Diesel Grand Cherokee Limited with Quadra Drive and it really makes a difference on and off-road. It runs now a Rapid Chip and have 214hp and 680N/m torque. The only problem was the front brake disks, the dealer changes that every 10.000 Km, but now they seem to be OK.

Off-road driving is awesome, those farm trucks some people call Land Rover, don't even come close when the "road" gets rough.

Some people say bad things about Grand Cherokee because they don't know how to ride a JEEP. This vehicle is the best off-road ride and was not made for hi speed driving, but still makes some difference on the left lane.

I agree, I have a 200 Grand Cherokee Ltd.

It has 60,000 KM and I just got back from the dealership where they replaced the ffront Ring gear and Pinion.

The rear was replaced at 52,000 KM.

The main thing I hate about this car is the fact that it is rear wheel dominant. I purchased every option available (including Quadradrive) and it's garbage unless you enjoy doing donuts in the snow.

I used to have an '88 Jeep with Select track and it was awesome.

I guess they don't make them like they used to.

Anyone want to, but a truck?

I'm thinking about buying my first car ever... or suv for that matter, I want to buy a 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited, fully loaded at 60,000 kms,

I was wondering if anyone can email me at candypaint01@yahoo.com and let me know about any big problems or good reviews about this jeep.

I'm not sure what to think about it right now because half of you people hate it, and half love it.

I need it for driving back and forth between cities on the highway.

Also, I was wondering what type of warranties I should ask the dealership for. Can anyone help me?

Thanks so much!

Please email at candypaint01@yahoo.com.

I agree, my 2000 WJ is just fab in terms of looks and how it drives.

My only problem was a new transfer case under warranty to help cure a 100km/hr whine and steering tracking problems. A sledgehammer to crack a nut - maybe. Cheers anyway Chyrsler!

I do a fair bit of off-roading in the desert in the Middle East. However, I also follow the "B" Maintenance Schedule as recommended religiously which basically means the regular service, but at every 3000 miles instead of the more regular 5000 miles.

The vehicle isn't perfect from all the previous comments seen, but I personally expect to see a few more glitches for a 4wd than I would for a regular vehicle. Even so, Chrysler Jeep should put more work into durability rather than tooling around with concept cars that never see the light of day. Just imagine what Toyota-style reliability could add to the brand! That would make Jeep a true world-beater.

I just recently purchased my 2nd Jeep Grand Limited. 1st in 97 then a 2001. I had never had any problems with the 97 until an incompetent garage did work to it. Decided to trade in for a newer model and love the 01 even more. have already put 1500 miles on it. Rides better and responds better at the throttle. Reading the comments here, sounds like most people with problems don't take care of their cars and want to blame everything on someone else. In respond to the Quadadrive system, I have not had the pleasure so cannot comment. All I can say is that both have been great cars and have never left me on the side of the road. Please DO NOT blame others when two speakers start buzzing, turn the music down. DUH.

I agree with him my '95 GC and my mother's '01 GC my sisters '00 GC and my other sisters '98 GC have performed absolutely perfect to the highest standard we have not a single problem and I have never seen a jeep in ALASKA do poorly in the winter or in the summer in any position in any situation, that includes when I drove across a glacier with the local JP club. I feel that I can speak with good understanding of the JEEP brand because I also own three 1950's Willy Jeep's plus I am local JEEP expert and enthusiast

My front driver seat just broke in my 2000 Grand Cherokee. The seat wobbles around. The Jeep dealer wanted $467 to replace a broken seat frame. They told me it's a vendor-direct order and have no idea when the part would be delivered. I went to an auto service center that installs car seats etc. They told me the weld broke on the frame assembly and they can re-weld it. It will cost me $125. I'm having it done next week.
