I like how everyone is trying to compare a very capable car built in 1992 against brand new cars. With 5 grand you can build a GSR and it will run with if not beat newer cars and still be out the door under 9 grand. Most would rather have an STI, but at 30 grand new, plus insurence good luck with having money to put gas in it.

And even though VTEC and turbos are two totally diffrent beasts they operate on the same basic concept. Get more air into the engine. A turbo obviously does a better job of it at the cost of reliability. But don't bash a car because of VTEC. Hell BMWs have been using it for years they just call it VANOS and it's in every BMW now made even the M3. It's how it gets 333hp out of a 3.2l nature asperation engine.

I have a white 1992 Acura Integra GSR. This car is my pride and joy. Right now it just has basic bolt ons; Injen air intake, headers, exhaust (no cat), fuel pressure regulator, governer removed, neuspeed springs, momo racing steering wheel and shift knob, I removed the rear seats, added a type r front lip, carbon fiber hood, JDM one piece clear headlights, carbon fiber euro style taillights, type r valve cover, Bosch Platinum 2 spark plugs, and 9mm spark plug wires. I know there's not too much done to the engine, but I'm going to complete the motor work within this week. I'm changing out the cam gears, cam shafts, valves, valve springs, full port and polish, new pistons, re-work the compression ratio (which I need a few opinions on the best compression ratio to use), and I'm throwing on a Thermal Research and Development catback exhaust system.

As my car stands right now, I have murdered:

Scion Tc

Ford Mustang (6cyl)

Ford Thunderbird SC (6cyl Supercharged)

Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Honda Civic hatch.

I have people I work with who have friends and friends who have friends all who want to run me. All of these people are thinking that my car is "nothing, but a little 4 cylinder Honda". I can't wait to finish my motor work and show the people out there what a Honda motor really is capable of.

Any comments or suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

I agree with the last comment, people out there (mainly muscle car guys) sees Honda and Acura as little 4 cylinders with no power, and I hate the saying they always use "there's no replacement for displacement". In a way it's true, I own a 92 GS soon to be turboed with a T3/T4; it maybe a little 1.8L, but guaranteed after I finish all my engine work, it'll stay a 1.8 and murder 3.2s, 3.7s, 4.6s, 5.3s, 5.7s, and hopefully higher. Mainly what I'm saying, is with the money you can have a little engine, and still take you guys out.

But then we make the same modifications to a larger engine and you still lose, so what's your point? Racing 6-cylinder Mustangs? Is that the best you can do?

No a stock 92 gs-r will take out V6 Mustangs, they're saying it will take out a mach 1 or Saleen Mustang.

When I dynoed my '92 GSR, it only read that it had 147 HP. I thought the numbers were off because this car has not lost a race yet. It only had basic bolt-ons. Right now I'm working on it and when I'm done, it will have stage 3 cam shafts, cam gears, valves, valve springs, mounts, clutch, flywheel, port and polish/bored out head, sleeved block, 13:1 compression ratio pistons, piston arms/rings, fuel rail, fuel injectors, intake manifold, throttle body, timing belt, short shifter, Hytech headers, thermal research and development exhaust with a hollowed out cat, NGK spark plugs and wires, fuel pressure regulator, cold air intake, Hondata s300, carbon fiber hood, removed rear seats, racing seats and harnesses, racing steering wheel, and a little more. All this, and the car will be running completely N/A. No turbo or supercharger is going to be installed on this car. I'm an all motor guy, and when my car blows the pants off high HP V8s and more, then everyone will see how much a Honda can actually do.

Let's say you have a mach 1 mustang, (for arguments sake), and you're talking about Hondas. Before you run your mouth, race a Honda. The only thing I hate is when people run their mouth about imports, when they never raced one. We all know the classic line: "I'm not racing you, I'll beat you so bad it's not worth the gas in my tank." (I've heard that line plenty of times)

So what I'm saying guys, be like me. I NEVER run my mouth, I only say "prove it." Pull up to the line, and let's see what the cars are worth.

If you back out of a race or never raced the car you're talking about, you have no right to run your mouth.

So please, let's stop the back and forth, and show 'em what Hondas can really do.

I NEVER run my mouth. I'm an all-motor guy who's car will, someday, blow the pants off a high-hp V8.

I'm looking at purchasing a 1992 Acura Integra GS-R, with 165,000km, perfect inside and out, motor babied, all stock. original rims with winter studded tires, and 6 star 14 inch aftermarket Borbet aluminum rims with rubber.

Is it worth $7,988 canadian?? Please someone help. Really want this car, just don't know if it would be worth it...

To above:

It's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

In all honesty, even if it was in PERFECT shape with 0 kms, it still wouldn't be worth that much. I'd say $5000 tops, if it's in really good shape. Always try to talk your way down though.

You can find some swapped Civics and Accords with more power for a few grand less if you look around/get lucky.

The advantage the gsr has is it weighs a bit less than other cars. 160hp at the flywheels is great. if its putting down 147 to the wheels even better. oh and one other advantage that most people don't use is the handling, most of you guys are all about straight line speed. boring..that's what I say.

This car sounds sick when it hits vtec. There's a lot I forgot to list. The car dynos at 400hp and 300tq. Burns tires out 1st up to 3rd gear. I'm pretty sure with a better tune it will exceed over 400hp. I ran a 10.00 sec quarter mile.
