To import I use the website BeForward, pick the car I like, then pay with a credit card. The car arrives at the UK port you have selected, BeForward provide all the paperwork and critically the bill of laden and de-registration certificate from the export company e.g. Japan, you then collect the car once you have paid the UK duty. I collect with a car trailer. Once home, book an MOT if the car is over 10 years old. Then fill a form out from the DVLA website (takes 5 minutess), send to the DVLA with cheque for the vehicle tax and wait a couple of weeks for your license plate. If the car is less than 10 years old, you will need an IVA (more stringent) test. BeForward rep in the UK can arrange the IVA, but it will cost £1600 so I always buy a car over 10 year old but with low mileage. Every car I have imported has been in great condition, I always buy a car that has lots of photos and a video so that I can check the condition. BeForward also offer a warranty if issues are found at the MOT.

Look at Respect Motors. I’m here as replacing my Elgrand and want something more economical than 15 mpg LOL, but I currently paid my bidding deposit to Respect; they are amazing and it’s not hard, just a process…. I saved about half buying my Elgrand using Respect in 2017; it was £4500 on road and then I fitted LPG, but it was 10k at a dealer here at the time.
