Early diesel 1.6 TDi had injector issues across all the VW/Skoda/Seat/Audi range. 2008 - 2014 years most affected on the 1.6 (the 2.0 TDi from that time seems to fair better).
From 2015 onward they significantly improved the 1.6 TDi. I had a 2016 VW Passat with that engine as a taxi and ran it to 187,000 miles and never had any injector or any other major issues. Friend had a 2015 Octavia with the same engine and it ran very well also.

I'd say they are worth it though. The 1.6 TDi engine for all its reliability concerns, is soo economical (genuine 60 + mpg if you drive carefully); if you find a garage that can take care of it for a reasonable price, it is not a concern.
However the older 1.9 TDi or newer 2.0 TDi engines in these cars are a much better choice.
