Those miles are rather low which could explain you making repairs shortly after you bought it if the car sat a while prior to your purchase. The 5.0 was a solid engine, capable of reaching 250k mikes and beyond. Water pumps and alternators were actually very common, I also remember brake hose collapsing often causing calipers to lock up. These are minor things really, just make sure you're getting quality parts, even if you can score OEM, for a little more money.

Great car, enjoy it. I've owned a 96, 2002, and now a 2005. I personally think the 4.6 is a better engine. Things like water pumps and alternators last a lot longer.
