1995 Lexus ES300 review from North America
"Excellent value"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Leather is cracking, hard type, in 97+ seats are softer and rails are thinner, so you can't swap seats into 92-96.
Oil tends to leak from: valvecover, rear main seal at high mileage, mine was replaced at ~140k.
Starter replaced.
Valve cover gasket.
Most needles burned out, keep yours at medium setting and use your daytime parking lights during the day, it will slow down the burning out of the needles.
General comments?
Rides smooth.
Excellent factory pioneer system 6cd changer is in the trunk, reliable.
Excellent in terms of safety and build quality. Very strong frame structure.
Excellent engine, plenty of power, very quiet.
My transmission jerks in reverse when cold, at high idle, but shifts smooth otherwise.
Starting from 95 your car is obd ii, so you can go to autozone if you have check engine light, they will check it for free, just pull out the fuse cover next to the steering wheel on your bottom left 16 pin connector.
