1992 Peugeot 605 SLDT review from UK and Ireland
"A cross between an army tank, a luxury hotel and a great white shark"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New ignition barrel fitted recently.
Fuel pump needed reconditioning at 158,000 miles.
Power steering pump replaced at 157,000 miles.
Gear lever stick broke at 135,000 miles..... easily repaired.
Electric sunroof was faulty when purchased..... I suspect this was due to abuse by a previous owner.
Minor electrical faults from time to time.... very easily repaired.
General comments?
A superlative car to drive in terms of performance, comfort & superglue-like roadholding.
Also very safe... I have actually driven away from a potentially nasty accident. A very unfortunate 4x4 owner can testify to this car's tank-like resilience!
Very cheap to run, a real miser with diesel considering its great size. One of the most underrated cars ever, due I suspect to the absence of a German prestige badge!!
There are faults, mainly due to the miles of electrical wiring. The fuel pump & the ignition barrel were the most expensive items, but at this age, such a great car can be forgiven a few ailments.
