1993 Volkswagen Passat GLX review from North America

When I first bought the car the ignition was bad and it cost right around $300 to get fixed, but I only paid $550 for the car and it is in great shape so I wasn't complaining much.

Passenger window doesn't roll down, possibly a fuse.

Idle speed is too low so check engine light comes on when ever I stop. That'll end when I stop being lazy and fix it.

Car has that typical phantom veedub leak that's soaking the rear passenger floor board.

Front clip is ugly because there is no grill, just plastic surrounding the VW badge, yet they sell after market grills which I'll be investing in.

Considering the price of the car when I picked it up and how nice it drives I'm not complaning at all. I've read a bunch of bad reviews about them, but I bought this car after it had been sitting for three years and aside from the ignition all I had to do was wash it and get rid of a foul stench and the car has been my daily driver ever sense. I love it to death, it has plenty of passing power, gets good gas mileage for a V6, and a teenage driver. Its really not the most expensive car if you know how to do basic maintenance the thing will go for a long time.

I'm crazy about German engineering and I really think as long as you don't get one that's been abused you'll be getting you self a great car. You will end up paying more than you would if you bought something from Japan, but its worth it.
