2000 Ford Excursion Limited review from North America
"I love it, wish they kept making them"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The only issue I have is that 4 of the 5 power door locks do not work. There is a great DIY repair on another site though that's zero dollars.
The original Firestone Steel Tex tires were pretty bad. A set of BFG long Trails fixed it up.
Gas mileage above 2000 rpms drops to 15mpg.
General comments?
I love this big 'ol thing.
So comfortable it's almost dangerous.
Drives and handles as well as any of my previous 4 suburbans did and on the hiway the mileage is better. I get 17 at just under 2000 rpm's.
With 5 kids, this SUV is the best. I know I made the right decision when my front bumper is the same height as the windows on the crazy drivers in rice burners that buzz around like bugs.
There are plenty of aftermarket items to help increase fuel mileage. The best I have found is to not tach above 2000 rpm's at any time.
