1989 Oldsmobile 88 Delta review from North America
"This is a very reliable and economical car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Starter went out at approximately 150,000 miles.
First alternator went out at approximately 100,000 miles and the 2nd one at about 225,000.
Water pump replaced at about 200,000.
Replaced front wheel bearing about 125,000 miles.
Car currently has an electrical short that will drain the battery in about three days if car is not driven daily. I am unable to locate the short so I placed a knife blade switch on the ground post.
Bought car new and would buy another if were available.
General comments?
This is a great car.
I have spent less than $1,000 in repairs in the 19 and half years I have owned the car.
Car has been rear ended twice, one with major damage and one with minor damage, right front fender also damaged once, most of the car still has the factory paint, looking bad in places but still holding.
This is still a very reliable car that I still drive daily.
The A/C still works great with no trouble history.
The transmission still works great with no trouble history, I have serviced every 50,000 miles.
Car stills gets about an average 22 MPG.
Car is very comfortable.
