1993 Toyota Truck Deluxe Xtra Cab 4X4 review from North America
"An all around good truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I haven't had any major problems that wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a vehicle with this amount of mileage. Actually it has faired quite well. At about 180,000 miles the front brake calibers went out and the idler bearing needed to be replaced. I've had the engine compression ratio checked and it meets factory standards, which is surprising for any vehicle with high miles, and I take my vehicle off road quite often.
The gas mileage sucks though, about 12 miles to the gallon for a 4X4 with dual posi-tracs and only 15 on the highway.
General comments?
The truck is lacking horsepower, I've been told by mechanics and car dealers that Toyotas have underpowered engines, although it will push 115mph with time (after K&N air filter, flowMasters, etc.).
The truck performs excellently off road. Considered the terrain I travel, my friends Z71 got stuck more often. The towing capabilities are quite good as well.
