1984 Jeep Cherokee Chief review from North America
"The Chief of all Cherokees!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing really besides the normal wear.
I had to replace the weak mainshaft in the transmission/transfer case. The model 207 case is very weak. I upgraded to a newer model 231. Now everything is fine.
The speakers were replaced last month with Sony X-Plod speakers. Great installation! Installed in minutes!
General comments?
The 2.8Liter GM V6 was one of the best engines ever made (although the new 4.0L is way better). The performance could've been better with the carby version (100hp?) but I plan to upgrade to the fuel injected version, or just drop a 4.0 in.
If I had a picture of the odometer showing 319000 miles, I would show you!
