1984 Mazda 323 L review from Australia and New Zealand
"Cheap car, outstanding performance"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Carburettor needed adjusting, that's about it, real beast of a car.
Fuse for the radio blew, replaced that myself.
General comments?
This car has to be the ultimate small 'wannabe' rally car around, handles like an Suzuki Escudo, accelerates like one too, has a good top speed of about 160km/h.
The seats were fairly uncomfortable, until I exchanged them for some recaros (racing buckets). The steering wheel, I thought was too big, so, I also replaced that with an 13" MOMO wheel. My opinion, it was quite high, so, I bought some Koni adjustables, and brought the level of the chassis down by about 20 or so cm's. The motor pumped out a bit of power, which was enough to get the wheels (front) spinning for a good 20 or 30 metres in the back yard. But it still could of done with that extra bit of power, so I installed a Stage 2 turbo. Q. Whats left A. Your dream time rally car.
I am very happy with this car, and hope to keep it for a long time ;)
