1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo coupe review from North America
"V8 power with 4cyl economy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought the car in the winter of 2001, it was in decent shape but had some wear and tear (but what do you expect for a 14 year old car). Most of the problems are minor such as rust, dents and scratches. The neutral safety switch came off its mounts, and the power knob in the equalizer does not work sometimes. The car has had some problem. The clutch went at 121000km's, but I knew it was going to have to be changed when I bought it, and the head gasket might need to be replaced.
General comments?
I love the power of this car, you can spin the tires in 3 gears. there is hardly any turbo lag, but when it kicks in you'd better hold on. It has some very impressive torque. The interior is very comfortable and has plenty of room, with all the options you could possible want in a car. There is only one compliant I have about this car, Its too heavy if these cars were lighter they would be rockets. I highly recommend theese cars too anyone. I plan to put on a boost valve, full exhaust system and K&N cone filter. If you ever have the chance to buy one of these cars do it!
