1999 Oldsmobile Alero review from North America
"Worse car in my life"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Drivers side window felt down at winter, dealership said it is probably the motor. Finally it was small plastic cogwheel, but I had have to change all mechanism - $275.00.
Engine running hot and loss of coolant. May be, intake manifold gasket bad, causing antifreeze/water mixture to enter engine. Possibly doing major damage - crack of block. Can't get it fixed as of April 25, 2002.My mechanic have no idea. If it just gasket - not big deal to replace, but this part not available right now. If it is crack, engine heed to be replaced - more than $2000.00. Any way, I have to pay labor because mechanic has to disassemble engine for right diagnosis.
Recall on latch for center console.
Rubber molding around all 4 doors warped shortly after we got the car and lets a lot of wind and outside noise in the car.
General comments?
It's too bad our Alero has had these problems because I like the car. It is not very comfortable, but engine is strong.
As far as buying another Oldsmobile -
Never!!
I would try to persuade anyone I know not to buy this car.
