1999 Oldsmobile Alero 2 door coupe 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Looks sharp, drives sweet

Faults:

Less than a year from the purchase date, weird things started happening with the car. At first, the trunk opened on it's own. After a few months, everything in the car shorted out; speedometer, gas gauge, windows, everything! It was fixed under warranty. At about 39,000 the anti-lock brakes failed on snowy streets. This was not under warranty, due to the higher mileage.

General Comments:

Overall, I love my Alero! It handles great, especially in winter.

It's very comfortable and looks great.

I got a great price on my lease from my dealer.

I would definitely purchase another Alero or GM automobile.

1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS Coupe 3.4 from North America

Summary:

A dependable car with an affordable price

Faults:

Drivers side power window quit working. It had 20,000 miles at the time and was covered under the warranty.

New brake pads at 40,000 miles.

There are several cracks in the leather of the back seat and one in the passengers seat.

I still haven't fixed the recall on the console between the seats. It needs a new latch.

The horn is located on the cushion where the airbag is. I have trouble getting the horn to work when I need it immediately. I usually have to look down and press it precisely where the horn area is. There is no button and you have to press exactly where the little horn design is.

General Comments:

It rarely needs anything, just gas and oil changes. It performs great and looks awesome.

When you put your foot on the gas, this baby goes!

1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS 170 HP from North America

Summary:

170 horsepower isn't enough

Faults:

I have had no problems with the Alero yet.

General Comments:

My GLS Alero is a great fun car to drive. Its power is good except Oldsmobile added a governor at 105 MPH.

The other downside is the back seat is very uncomfortable.

Steering is excellent both for highway and city driving.
