1990 Lexus LS400 review from UK and Ireland

Power-steering pump replaced.

This is the best car that I have owned. Although high-mileage and twelve years old I believe that I should get another 100,000 miles from it before major surgery is required.

The best points are the engine and transmission. I had an automatic BMW before this, but they don't compare. The interior is a strange mix of expensive and cheap components, but is large and very comfortable. I have read that this isn't a drivers car and I suppose that if you enjoy taking corners at dangerous speeds that's true. However, there's plenty of fun to be had surprising hot-hatch drivers and the rolling acceleration is fantastic.

The worst point is the dealers. I keep reading that Lexus dealers are the best, but, if this is so, they just aren't interested in old cars. Their attitude seems to be "take it or leave it". I never get a courtesy car and always leave the dealer feeling cheated having paid £75 per hour for labour when the Toyota customer sitting next to me in the waiting room has paid a third of that amount for the same mechanics, in the same overalls and the same quality of service. However, that's not the cars fault, of course.
