2001 GMC Jimmy SLT review from North America
"Gas sucker, but has a lot of heart"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Seatbelt covers cracked prematurely. Fixed under warranty.
Front passenger side seatbelt would not retract. Also fixed under warranty.
Heated seats get a bit too hot if left on during cold nights.
General comments?
The leather seats are very comfortable, and provide good lumbar support on long trips.
Gas mileage has been rather poor; once you reach 1/4 tank left, the car sucks gas like it's going out of style.
In contrast to the front seats, the rear bench seat is very uncomfortable.
Cargo capacity is above average for a 'mini-ute'.
Surprisingly good for towing little things behind it.
Floor-mounted shift column is a nice touch. Wrapped in leather, it adds a touch of class.
Haven't needed to use 4-Wheel Drive too often, but it's worked when we've needed it.
Some plastic parts on the outside have a rather cheap look to them.
Gets dirty quite easily with the white paint.
Still looks just as pretty as the day we drove it off the lot.
Unfortunately, it's a company car, so we need to give it back in December. We won't miss the poor gas mileage, but it was a great car for my son to learn on, and took us back and forth to our cabin with ease many a time.
