1993 Mitsubishi Lancer GL review from Guatemala
"Great 'until death do us part' car ;)"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This is what I love about this car, not a big thing has gone wrong with the car. Even though that I have totally abused it; I totally was into driving the Rally champion car.
Not that good performance at idle speeds during warm up, once warm; the engine is superb.
The interior is kind of too plastic like, but it's good quality plastic, it hasn't wear down. Sometimes the plastic retains too much heat and that makes the cabin too hot, so A/C it's a must.
General comments?
You would think that with this really small engine (4 cl, 1.3L) this car wouldn't perform fast. If you did, you're wrong. Once you've got your foot down the accelerator, you're gone.
I can't believe that it supposedly only has 100 HP, I can get a lot more out of this car.
The car handles great, it is easy to seriously exceed the speed limit significantly on curvy roads.
Of course, it's a great gas saver, with 40 miles pg on highways, and 32 mpg in the City, what else can you ask for?
It's a great bargain, it's a really cheap car for what it offers: so, of course, you'll need a couple more speakers, than the stock ones, if you're serious about car audio, the stock stereo system is really good, it works great for years. But I'm totally into stereos, so I got another one.
Mitsubishi it's a make that's known for being really reliable, I haven't had to deal with a lot of stuff with the car.
The interior is comfortable, it's just right for 5 people; one summer we drove like 600km to another country, and we managed to get 6 adults and a little girl in the car. Nobody complained about space, only that, as I wrote before, the cabin gets really hot and it was summer.
It's a great car, my mom got this one brand-new out of the dealer, five years later my older brother bought it from her; so she got a '98 Mirage, as well, but she went all the way with the EVOlution edition. It's a great ride.
My brother got a VolksWagem Golf GT-i, and he's got a lot to deal with, a lot of things just ruined, all of sudden; even though he got it brand-new out of the dealer, as well. And he doesn't abuse the cars as I do.
It's incredible, so that's how I inherited my old Mitsubishi. Since this car, I've been totally faithful to Mitsubishi.
I wish Mitsubishi would make a "north American luxury" Make, as well. It would be interesting to see the Lexus runner up in the Mitsubishi way.
