1992 Pontiac Grand Prix LE review from North America

"A very reliable family sports car!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When purchased had to replace power steering pump, battery, alternator bracket, and serpentine belt.

Like most other Grand Prix my low fuel light and temp light are always on.

The odometer does not work. So mileage is approximate.

Seat's are more comfortable than those in my 2000 Dodge Neon where.

The body is in excellent condition for around 180,000 miles. I live in Upper Michigan, where a lot of salt is used on the roads during the winter months, which last 6 months of the year. No rust holes, except one small one in the trunk lid. All surface rust. Easy fix, sand paper and touch-up paint.

Passenger side window rolls up fine half way, then from halfway on up, goes very slowly.

Car accelerates great. I ran 100-110 mph right behind a fairly new Cadillac, with the 32 valve Northstar drive train.

I feel that for a worn out V6 to be able to run with a newer V8 is quite impressive.

The brakes have been great. even missing one bolt from the right front caliper the car would stop on a dime and make change. ABS system still works great.

I bought this car from a friend who used it for a parts car for his other Grand Prix, Since his daughter hit a curb with it. All that ended up happening was a bent lower ball and being out of alignment.

General comments?

All in all, I bought this car for $250 put another $250 into it about 10 hours of my own time working on it and I feel this car is more reliable than my Neon which has less than half as many miles on. Yes I would buy another Pontiac. But I would probably buy a Bonneville, just for the added luxury. I have owned three different Pontiac's now and I don't believe I will go to another company, except maybe for a truck in the future. Grand Am, Grand Prix, & Bonneville. All great cars. All highly recommended to any one.
