1993 Chevrolet Astro CL review from North America

Transmission: went at 80000 KM A heat plate shredded the solenoid wires and dammaged the gears.

Front Differential: went at 150 000Km seal went and drive shaft ceased from improper maintenance.

Calipers: went at 265 000Km

Rear Axle Seals: started leaking at

270 000Km

not much left of the rocker panels they are pretty rusted out.

This van has sure given me 9 1/2 years of solid service and I woukd reccomend this van to anyone who wants a very roomy workhorse van for the family. The 1993 EXT AWD model came with the 4.3L CPI engine which had 200HP vs. the 2WD which had the 4.3L TBI engine which only had 160HP. Mine does 0-60MPH in 7.4 Secs. I have modified it a bit though. GM rates them at 10.2 Seconds with AWD. mine now has about 240HP, it is 10 yrs old and till runns like new I would like a 2003 Astro, but I don't want to get rid of this one. People laugh at me when I talk about how good it runns and how fast it is, but I take them for a ride and their jaw just dropps. they don't believe it's a 1993 becase it drives like new. It gets pretty good gas mileage for being an AWD and 10 yrs old. I get about 800Km to the tank (Premium Gas 93 Octane)

If you already have an Astro and want better mileage the K&N Air filter works wonders it's a little pricey, but pays for itself in the long run. also Full Synthetic Engine Oil, Transmission Fluid, Transfer Case and Diffeential Oil as well. The Astro is a really good Bang for your buck and it actually has a Frame.
