1991 Isuzu MU review from Australia and New Zealand
"Well made, very economical all-rounder for people who are looking beyond AWD."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had a few smaller electrical issues with lights and power windows when I bought the vehicle, but fixed them all myself: Indicator and braking light short.
Interior light didn't work; power window driver side didn't work either (broken switch). That's it so far.
General comments?
I found it a bit hard to find out some technical details, such as towing capacity, approach and departure angle; even the english version of the owner's manual doesn't cover it. Also couldn't get the original fuel filter; so I opted for a CAV system, which had proved so successful in a friend's Holden/Isuzu Gemini diesel (he got -so far- 480.000 km out of that engine...!)
On/off road:
capable car; very economical (8.4l/100km on highway!) Good all-round off-roader; basically a Rodeo SWB (also spare-part wise).
Rear headroom a bit limited, but lots of legroom; 4 seater only; sash belts for rear pax. only. Some blind spots. Power steering a bit light and vague. well protected under-body (in the manual version anyway). Good gearing. Hi/low range.
