1992 Chevrolet Corsica 3.1L V6 review from North America

"OK car with lots of little annoying problems"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The left turn signal light comes on every few minutes. If I don't flip the lever back up, the right signal light also comes on. The column then begins to smoke.

It only gets about 8-12 mpg highway.

The automatic locks neither lock nor unlock any of the doors, but the driver's.

If I don't turn the lights on immediately after turning on the car, the instrument panel lights and clock, etc. become so dim they are almost unreadable.

The passenger side door must be lifted out of the frame in order to get it open. The back driver's side door works its way open.

The washer fluid thing does not work at all and never has, although it has been "fixed" several times.

It sometimes takes up to 45 seconds for it to shift from park to drive after it is started.

The gas tank needed to be replaced because of faulty gauge, which fluctuated from empty to 3/4 tank while driving.

Fuel gauge still faulty as it never reads below 1/4 tank.

I replaced the shocks with new ones and it still feels like a roller coaster.

The anti-lock brakes come on nearly every time I brake. The entire car shudders badly every time this happens. The brakes also don't work unless I put them practically to the floor.

There's also some sort of leak that causes a puddle where the passenger's feet go.

It doesn't like to accelerate.

I have to scrape ice off the inside of the windshield.

The lights are very dim.

General comments?

It's a fairly reliable car and only dies on me when I put it in reverse. It has always at least started, although it doesn't always stay started.

It's an OK first car, and gets you from point A to point B.

There are a lot of problems with mine though, which may not be typical of all Corsicas. I don't run it very hard and I don't have a lead foot, but it seems to be falling apart. I only spent $150 on it, and have paid for well over that in repairs. But overall it has served me well for how much I spent.

The seats are fairly comfortable and it makes for an alright ride if you don't mind its likeness to a rollercoaster. The heater and air conditioner work well, though the air conditioner has been replaced.
