1999 Hyundai Accent GL review from North America
"A waste of time and money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
1 week after purchase had to take car in because they forgot to replace a part on the transmission.
1 year after purchase had to take car in for electrical trouble. Bright lights were flashing by themselves.
2 1/2 years after purchase, car wouldn't shift into overdrive. Inhibitor switch replaced under warranty.
4 years after purchase car again wouldn't shift into overdrive. TOok car into shop and they lied to me about the warranty. Paid $400 to replace pulse generator.
Only 1 month after that, car again won't shift into overdrive. Dealership unwilling to work with me about the problem. Took car in, 2 days later they still hadn't looked at the car.
Now taking car, even though not paid off to Ford Dealership and trading it in. Have paid $1100 in repairs for car. It is only worth $1500.
General comments?
Car is unreliable and dealerships lie and are unwilling to help. Will NEVER buy another Hyundai again.
I am willing to lose money and get a new vehicle rather than ever drive this one again.
