1993 Citroen XM Turbo ct review from Germany

The brakes required total renewal: hoses, disc's, wires, the lot. The stabilizer in the front rattled and was fastened. A valve of the injection system had to be replaced (250 euros). Hydraulic system was cleaned and some vital parts replaced (not too expensive). Coming up is the heating matrix (it's either 'on' or 'off' with nothing in between) which is going to be tedious and expensive. Timing belt replaced (not too expensive on this car as it can be done quite easily - 230 euros). Electrical system works quite well, only minor problems.

Great car to drive. It's got a tight grip on the road, great acceleration (thanks to the turbo) with comfortable seats in both the front and the rear. The boot is smallish. Unfortunately these cars have their technical peculiarities and they need regular maintenance!! Many of these cars were rejected (and dejected) and have been driven by mostly young drivers who did not have the money to take care of it which means many are in a sorry state. Buy carefully therefore and look for a small garage with Citroen-fans. Dealers are often very expensive, at least here in Germany, where they think Citroen can charge the same as BMW.
