1978 Buick LeSabre Custom 4-door review from North America
"The Deer Slayer!!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Tie rod (from hitting and running over a damn deer), A/C seals (dry rotted), fuel gauge, fuel tank (from hitting the damn deer), u-joint, heater fan.
General comments?
I love this car!!!!! It eats V6 Camaros and Mustangs alive at the stoplight, and gives the V8 versions a good run for their money! Very reliable, doesn't even burn oil. Rides and handles better than many new cars. Hit a deer at 30 mph and escaped uninjured with only slightly bent bumper and the damage mentioned above.
This was "Granny's car", who finally bit the dust three years ago, and I wound up buying it for $1000 at an auction. It was worth every penny!!! Grandpa sure took care of it when he was still alive. The paint is nearly flawless!
The interior is real comfortable. This car was loaded with pretty much every option except sunroof. The original cassette player still worked, but I replaced it with a modern Infinity system. Somehow, God knows how, the original speakers worked quite well with the new stereo without getting damaged. GM made some good stereos even 20 years ago!!
I wish GM still had the common sense to make cars like this, instead of those bubbly, oval looking pieces of CRAP!!!
