1994 Fiat Uno i.e. review from Singapore
"Quite a bargain when the pocket is tight"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front pads and disc brakes replaced with rally types. No gripping power with the original brakes.
Clutch replaced at 115,000km.
Vacuum pump replaced because the car died while idling.
Distributor cap replaced due to wear & tear.
Back brakes replaced due wear & tear.
Exhaust replaced due to corrosion.
Water jacket replaced due to corrosion. This inherently introduced new overheating problems which I don't know where else to check.
Transmission/gear stick difficult to engage from 1st to 2nd even after the clutch replacement.
Replaced the petrol pump and filter (ageing).
Parts are extremely expensive.
Springs and shock absorbers replaced, because the ride was very hard.
General comments?
Very simple car to use.
Easy to modify.
Could use more standadised bolts and nuts instead of allen keys (imperial stanard).
Fuel consumption is average, but starting to increase.
Ride is surprisingly quite comfy for a 1.0 litre car.
For this price, one shouldn't complain, if not for the problems all happening at the same time.
