1993 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 review from North America
"Awesome vehicle... low maintenance... highly recommended."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Very little have gone wrong with this truck and what has been replaced is considered normal wear and tear. I just put in the first fuel pump at 202,000 miles. Put starter in at 180,000 miles. water pump at 150,000 miles. Clutch at 120,000 miles.
The only problem with this truck is the air conditioner doesn't blow out the vents very well. It's like the vents don't open properly and the fan only works on med/high or high, but doesn't blow high air out.
General comments?
I am very pleased with this truck. It has great power for a V-6 and has manual transmission so haven't had any transmission problems. It got great gas mileage at 24 mpg average until fuel pump was recently changed. It now gets 16-19 but for a truck with 4x4 and all the miles on it it's not too bad. It still rides well and very comfortable with 3 kids in the back seat. They still enjoy riding in the truck more than my 2002 car. I am looking into buying a new truck, but the fuel mileage of the new vehicles has scared me away as most of them I have seen aren't getting as good as this old truck. It is still running great and plan to keep it for teenage son to drive in 2 years. I wish the new silverado had this same engine.
