2010 Renault Laguna Dynamique 1.5 dCi (110HP) turbo diesel

Summary:

Excellent

Faults:

Right front loudspeaker was changed during the first week due to a defective woofer (It was giving some rattling noise between 90Hz and 100Hz frequencies).

The dealer was effective.

The cup holder has a dull articulation that was sometimes giving a shy rattling with low RPM while closed. Fixed by putting a thin sponge in between the articulation. It simply doesn't bug me.

General Comments:

The car is generally well built with an exquisite interior execution (apart from the cup holder toy).

The driving position is correct, and the handling improvement was tremendous concerning the last model.

However, the increased stiffness of the suspension is giving a much more german ride rather than french. Which isn't bad.

On B roads it can jiggle a bit more than expected; maybe due to the rear suspension type.

Sound isolation from the exterior is excellent.

Smart interior.

Not much wind noise.

It saves fuel if driven properly.

Comfortable and peaceful ride.

Thanks for your review. I have just purchased a facelift 2009 1.5 DCI Dynamique on the strength of it. Cheers Peter.

And how does the 1.5 DCI cope with such a heavy car? Especially in the city, do you have to rev it high in order to get going, or does it feel adequate?

2003 Renault Laguna Dynamique 1.9 dCi 120BHP

Summary:

The worst car the 21st century has to offer

Faults:

Some people say that car manufacturers no longer produce bad cars. Well these people obviously never owned a Renault Laguna.

- Gearbox replaced

- Clutch replaced (2x)

- Turbo replaced (2x)

- Exhaust system replaced

- Aircon no longer working

- Display of climate control broke down (3x)

- satnav unit replaced

- Tire pressure monitoring system kept breaking, constantly giving false alarms. When I had a flat tire for real, I though it was another false alarm and couldn't be bothered anymore.

- Keyless entry door handles have been replaced on countless occasions. The card itself also needed to be replaced twice.

- Rattles and squeaks everywhere.

And a lot lot more of small breakdowns and annoying problems.

General Comments:

No wonder the Laguna has a 5 star EuroNCAP rating, it makes people so miserable they want to crash the car on purpose. This car is so notoriously bad that you would risk your life driving it in a canal just to get rid of it and claim the insurance money. Luckily it was a leased car so I didn't have to worry about the cost to replace the countless parts.
