2005 Cadillac STS 3.6 V6

Summary:

Superb American luxury sedan

Faults:

Right front suspension parts replaced shortly after I owned the car.

Anti theft system is unreliable in terms of false alarm. With some sunshine on the car in summer, the alarm is triggered because of an unknown reason.

High pressure power steering line replaced at 78000 km.

Poor quality standard, blank alloy which deteriorates in winter salty conditions.

General Comments:

Superb car, simply reliable, specially the all so hated overkill on electronic gadgets, things which go all so wrong on many European car makers.

I would advise to take the V8 4.6 Northstar, because of the V8 sound (is that important? Well yes off course it is..) and the Magnetic Ride Control Suspension. The 3.6's suspension is very firm, unless you like this behavior, well I don't.

An overall exclusive touring limousine with a "acceptable" fuel economy of 10.1 l/100 km ~ 25 mpg.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

My 2005 STS is surely the best car I have owned. So far, I have only replaced the passenger door solenoid, and warped disc brakes were replaced under warranty. I use Mobil syn oil every 5000m. Lots of power, handling and the right mix of luxury and quiet to go along with the fun. After 10 Chryslers and one Ford, I think that I'm going to stick with the Caddie for a while longer... until the CTS Coupe comes out. Cheers, Igs.
