1981 Mercedes-Benz W123 230E 2.3 I4

Summary:

A smooth riding classic car with the quality of Mercedes-Benz

Faults:

Replaced shocks.

Replaced muffler.

Replaced brake pads.

Tightened Timing Belt.

General Comments:

I have inherited this car from my grandfather and it is car is such a wonderful car to own. Yea it had some minor problems as stated, but what would you expect from a 23 year old soon to be 24 year old car? Other than that, this car has never let me down. Always starts up, no matter how cold or hot it is outside.

I always get looks when I drive this car, especially since it is in perfect condition. My grandfather has kept this car in perfect shape, and I plan to do the same, maybe this car will last another 24 years or longer I wouldn't doubt it.

I had a model the same as this a few years ago, and am about to buy another. fantastic car, the ONLY problem I ever had with the last one was a broken fuel gauge!

Were built to last, and do, fantastic 4-pot engine, simple, effective, and deadly reliable.

Note that these models are known to handle kilometers almost no other cars can.

A four pot is the same as a four banger or a four cylinder.

Ahead 20 years than other cars! Proud while driving with star!

1983 Mercedes-Benz W123 280E 2.8 injection

Summary:

One of the best cars Mercedes has ever built

Faults:

All things are very well, except the headlights which are not sufficient.

General Comments:

Mercedes built this car very stable, the engine has more than enough power and the automatic changes the gears very softly. Fuel consumption is about 14 l per 100 km on average, not too much for the big engine and the weight of about 1500 kg of this car.

I totally agree. My 280E is fantastic, a masterpiece. Headlamps are fine here in the UK, but I think that is because we have different lighting requirements.

I have had my 1983 280E for three years (after dreaming of one for several more) and regard the shape as being wonderfully balanced and the drive extremely smooth. It turns eyes and I would not swap it for any other vehicle, a joy to drive, even in the traffic of Oxford. And yes, I have driven a BMW, a Daimler and a Bentley previously!
