General Comments:

If anyone says the honda city is an expensive to maintain car, then there must be something seriously wrong with the driving style... parts are expensive alright, but there are not many things that can go wrong with a Honda so if you are a good driver, you can run on a very low budget. I have some friends who bought the new City (GXi) and everyone has a different mileage... ranging from 10 KM/L to 18 KM/L... the new cars needs to be driven in a certain style to extract the best mileage... Otherwise, I have never been happier abut any other car...

The mileage of honda as spelt out ranges from 10 km per L to 18 -- this very vast bracket -- no matter what the style of driving --- this is very vast bracket -- There has to be some thing more to it -- Perhaps no proper tuning and adjustments which result in this phenomenon. I am experiencing this low mileage fault since purchase and despite visits to Honda workshop. It is giving 9.5 / 10 km L!!

Maybe you didn't run in properly during the first 10,000. mileage. I read somewhere that if you ram the engine before the run in, it will effect the fuel consumption and even the response after that and it is permanent.

2004 Honda City Exi 1.5 DSI

Summary:

A great and Expensive to maintain car!

Faults:

The interior material used on the dashboard of the car is very flimsy and poor, they have started to erode within the first 5 months after I bought it. Honda refused to replace it and said that it is not covered under warranty. TVS Sundaram Honda, Chennai agreed replaced it (free of cost) from a trashed car - but the problem is the replaced part color is Wooden grain, but the rest of my interior is Grey!!

General Comments:

The car is a pleasure to drive. Lots of space for the family. It gives a good mileage - I driver around 8 Kms a day in the city and I get around 11 Kms per liter (this is no where near what Honda claims as the mileage you get).

The spares are very very expensive (as all parts are imported from Thailand) and really burns a hole in the pocket for maintenance.

Do you have the organic looking new City or the tarmac ripping older one? Frankly, I do think that Honda has produced a lemon, and is selling what is basically a very cheap car (in every way) at an exorbitant price. Honda is taking its Indian customers for a ride.

2002 Honda City Vtec 1.5

Summary:

You pay for the engineering and the performance, not the kit

Faults:

Black paint seems to be soft. Lot of light scratches apparent. Other than that, nothing else.

General Comments:

Car is lightly jerky at low speeds, but that is inherent.

Interior is well made, but very minimal - am not complaining.

Car might seem expensive, but three months on I do not feel burnt.

Car corners wells. Suspension might be simple, but it tells you what is happening and you feel part of the experience.

Too fast for India traffic.

Fuel economy is much better than my Suzuki Alto (maruti Zen) in town.

Never opened the bonnet until three weeks ago to top up wiper fluid.

Fuel Economy--Takes more than 600kms to totally expend the gas tank on a Honda City 1.3

Safety--Crashed it on the back of a Toyota Camry. Crumple zone works!

I am using HONDA CITY Ex since July 2004. To my delight it showing excellent fuel economy - around 14 km/lit - under Indian city traffic conditions. No problems have ever been faced with this car. Also, the car is quite silent under city drive conditions, though on express way driving between Ahmadabad and Baroda the engine noise at around 130 km/hr is perceptible although not irritating. Road handling too is excellent under expressway driving. Overall the car is a real value for money.

I own a Honda City 1.5 Exi (2002). The car is prodigious. It handles itself well in hairpin bends and through the ghat section. You do not have to shift to a lower gear to overtake in highway. Its got the smooth run like a bullet train on a highway.

Things of concerns would be of the low base. So care to be taken in speed breakers, road craters. The power of this car is awesome. So be careful and keep your eyes wide open in city. As the smallest push on the throttle will zoom your car.

I own a Honda City 1.5 Exi. It's a car of its class. The engine is smooth, quick on the slightest throttle, handles curvy roads and uphills.

I drive a 2002 Honda City 1.5 (vti v-tech). The car runs just awesome, it handles pretty well upon corners and accelerates fast! Great car...
