General Comments:

This car in Iran known as Saipa GLXi or Pride GLXi,

This car is very easy to own.

But when you get in and drive it a little on roads and highways, you will find that it is uncomfort & unsmooth ride.

There are lots of noise from dashboard & the whole body.

When you have 3 passengers or more, the car don't tend to move and it's like a turtle.

But when you are alone it is so good for acceleration up to 60km/h.

After sales service is too bad, it has a guaranty for 36000km, but when you complain about wrong items in service shop they didn't change the warranty items.

Top speed for this car is good, I drive it by maximum 155km/h and it was like a bird in the air not on the road.

It must have a power steering and better suspension system for better performance.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Shock absorbers after only 4000 kilometer? Must have very rough roads.

More likely it was off roaded. Lots of mountains in Iran.

2003 Kia Pride GTX 1.3 carburetor

Summary:

Cheap, economic car for driving in the city

Faults:

The alternator didn't work properly and it was changed under guaranty. The alternator belt was also changed.

Although the car is maintained well and not driven hard, but there is slight oil leakage from the engine.

There is always lots of noise in the car from the dashboard, tires and the little engine.

General Comments:

KIA pride is generally a small town car with good fuel economy. I managed to calculate the real consumption average of this car myself, it is about 11 Km/Lit with urban driving and about 13.5 Km/Lit in highway with 80 Km/h speed.

Having an engine based on the Mazda 121, the car is reliable if not pushed very hard.

The gearbox is very soft, except for the rear gear which is tricky sometimes.

The best thing about the performance of this car is its good 20 Km/h to 60 km/h acceleration with second and third gears. Anyway the 4-th gear is a big disappointment for speed lovers because it takes a very log time to accelerate from 60 Km/h to higher speeds.

Air conditioning system of the car takes the power of the engine making the movement of the car almost impossible. It's like the air conditioning of a big car on a smaller car.

With more than two people in the car it goes like a turtle then you can see in the mirror the real fury in the eyes of the drivers who are stuck behind you.

The safety of this car is really low. It is very light it has no airbags and ABS. The body of the car is very weak. So the driver should be very cautious.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I have asked nearly everyone in the 10 millions Tehran town! Nobody knows the difference between the Pride GTX and GLXi. Do you know? Which one is better? Could you Please tell me?

6th Apr 2006, 14:58

I think the glxi has more standard features. Regardless, it is not important because Saipa corp in Iran does not build the gtx model anymore. Also, the car has a new name-the Saba Glxi.

Saipa's Pride GTX uses carburetor fuel delivery system, but GLXi has electric fuel injectors. The looks and the options are the same.

I have heard from so many Iranian that the Kia Pride is very sensitive in the Clutch/Transmission system. Vibration occurs easily when changing gear. Is this true for all production of this car? Is there some problem with the release system? Does it use cable or hydraulic release system?

22nd Jun 2006, 08:17

It uses a cable system. The transmission is the best part of this car because it is smooth and the clutch is not hard. Very suitable for heavy traffic.

I have one of these cars and didn't have any problems with the transmission so far.

Hey there.

I'm doing report about traffic in Iran and I would need the exhaust emissions and the fuel consume of the Paykan and the Kia pride. I also would need these characteristics for the typical bus used there. Can somebody help me to find this information?

Thank you very much for your help!!
