2010 Toyota Altis G 1.8

Summary:

Toyota, please fix the rear seats and arm rest

Faults:

Squeaky sound at certain times. Not sure what caused it. I also heard some weird sound. It's like the car body is going to be broken down.

General Comments:

It's a great car. It looks fabulous in silver.

The fuel consumption is very good compared to the Civic, and it has a large cargo are (It can even fit a person inside!).

The car handles well, but the steering response somehow has a lack of precision. The steering wheel fits my hand perfectly. The gas pedal feels light weight, and you don't need to put a lot of pressure on the gas to make this car go fast.

I like the interior design, simple and neat, but boring sometimes. I like the silver details in the cabin. I think it's better than the wood trim in the higher trim Corolla.

There are few complaints that I want to share.

First of all, the cabin is not as I thought. I can hear everything from outside clearly. It's like the window has not being closed properly.

The engine is fuel efficient, but it's rough and it's annoying sometimes.

The rear seats are not comfortable. The stupid seat structure makes your shoulder have to be bent, and it makes your elbow hurt sometimes. The arm rest is too small and hard to reach.

This is a good car for those who often drive this car alone or with 1 passenger, but if you often drive it with your family, then this is not the car for you.

2004 Toyota Altis

Summary:

Style Over Substance!!!

Faults:

Apart from one warranty replacement on the front shocks, there's not much to be changed.

There's some rattling noise on the steering cover and when on uneven roads, it has the tendency to squeaking sound on the dashboard.

General Comments:

This car is somehow like style over substance.

The front suspension is so busy and noisy over the slightest uneven roads.

Every time when you go over a small bump or pothole, the front suspension kind of "crashes" badly!!! Why is it so??? There is no finese, sophistication and suppleness at all!!!

I certainly expect Toyota Altis can do far better than this!!! After all, we pay more than RM100K, right?!

Any owners out there can shed some light on this please??? I really appreciate it... THANK YOU!

The visibility with wind screen and side windows is very poor when it rains even with air conditioning on. Heat buttons were not put in and I am truly disappointed that a car of this calibre could really fall down so badly.

Hi. I also have problems with reflections from the dashboard on the windscreen.

I've got some really terrible noise at the right back when I go over a bump or something rough and I can't solve the problem to what it is.

2005 Toyota Altis 1.8G 1.8 petrol

Summary:

Big Thumbs!!!

Faults:

So far minor squeaks with the glove box.

General Comments:

In Malaysia, we called it Corolla Altis. It comes with three versions, 1.6E (M), 1.6E (A) and 1.8G (A). M means 5-speeds Manual Transmissions and A means Automatic Transmissions.

Mine is a 2005 Cosmo Red Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8G (A). To tell the truth, it's a whole different world with my previous 2002 Proton Waja 1.6 (M). The Altis easily outperformed the Waja at all angle such as fuel consumptions, ride and handling, comfort, fast accelerations, etc.

Prior to buying the Altis, I did test drive the Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Nissan Sentra.. no doubt the Civic and Focus looked cool and retrospective... Sentra is just not good enough for me... I settled on Altis as I felt good behind the wheels, powerful acceleration is always on tap, the sweet engine noise just took my breath away, the look... it ain't that bad either.

Toyota Corolla Altis or Corolla CE or Corolla XRS... after all they're all the same except my tail lights are LED type and the radio antenna is printed on the rear window screen... it looks more stylish with that.

I seriously give BIG THUMBS on this car!

I bought an Altis 1.8L 6 months back. One of the problem that I have is the cranking sound occurs when the car is tilted on the right side. The foreman said it was due to the body structure, there was a gap in between in resulting metal rubbing. Has anyone experience this before?

Another problem is the air filter, sometimes we can get bad smell intake from outside eventhough we set the air circulation within the car. This is only happened once in a while. As this is a sporadic problem, it is not easy to catch.

Has anyone experience this before? If yes, can you please share with me?
