1996 Mitsubishi Colt GLXi 1.6

Summary:

Reliable, fun to drive bargain

Faults:

- Rear window sprayer doesn't work (not really important).

- Cigarette lighter doesn't stay in heat position.

- Part of left front suspension replaced (probably due to lowering springs).

-Right rear axle and wheel bearing replaced after crashing sideways into a curb (my fault).

General Comments:

Though not a very fast car in a straight line, it is nippy and has quite good handling. Made better by installing lowering springs and 15inch alloy wheels.

It's pretty comfortable and shifts really smoothly, easy to drive. Passenger space is good for people up front, but not in the backseat.

It looks nice and sporty, especially in icelle blue with some nice alloys. Most people don't know what car it is.

Cheap and fun to drive first car. But now looking for something faster, maybe a Colt GTi.

1993 Mitsubishi Colt GLXi 1.6 16v

Summary:

Good buy

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

It is a "speedy" car, outruns a BMW 316, only the top speed is just 190 km/h.

I prefer next the 1.8 GTI.

Take caution for the understeering effects of this car, it needs to be stabilized.

For the rest a good reliable car.

1995 Mitsubishi Colt GLXi 1.6

Summary:

Fast and reliable car

Faults:

Nothing, except my left brake light dies on me all the time, don't know why??

General Comments:

Great car, a lot of power (113 HP)and speed!!

Fantastic gearbox.. and very reliable.

A bit noisy, but very good acceleration at 70-80 miles per hour. Driving on the highway is a pleasure..

It's the best car ever built. The Mitsubishi colt GLXI from 1995 has a good design and a lot of power. The 113 HP RULES the WORLD.

Just bought an automatic 1996 1.6 GLX for long journeys when I'm travelling by myself (to supplement my beloved 3.0 litre Sigma estate -- also an automatic -- which guzzles more petrol than I care to think about ;-). What a superb small car: easy to drive; fairly economical, and with a very, very smooth gearchange!

1988 Mitsubishi Colt GLXi 1.5 petrol

Faults:

Nothing! I've owned the car for about 4 years, driving it for 150.000 km (about 94.000 miles). I only replaced the rear exhaust and the battery! (And some tires after 80.000km .....).

General Comments:

Excellent car. Powerful engine, with good economics. It always starts, the colder the better. Very comfortable seats, and nice extras. A bit noisy when driving above the 90 km/hour, but acceptable.

Never had any better or reliable car, and if Mitsubishi had a station (wagon) version of it I would buy it immediately.

I also own this car, and I have found that it runs great and is also economic on fuel.

The Australian 1988 colt is an icon.

I had a Colt too, and drove it 100.000 km without any problem at all. (I bought it second hand at 70.000 km.) Never had a car so reliable as this Mitsubishi.
