1992 Acura Integra GS-R 1.7L VTEC 16v inline 4

Summary:

One of the great engines of all time

Faults:

Radiator went bad after 115K - this is an extremely common problem with Integras, everyone I know that has owned one in this mileage range has replaced the radiator at this same mileage mark. Luckily, there are millions of aftermarket options, most of them quite cheap. Just stay away from more half-plastic ones like the OEM included when the car was made.

Car would hesitate slightly in wide-open throttle in first gear, before rushing off to tremendous speeds. Maybe a half-second or less hesitation, could have been not enough air, or gas, or who knows what. Only minor irritation for those who drag race, all others wouldn't even notice.

General Comments:

The best car I've owned - needed lots of work to get it to pass MD inspection, but the dealer charitably took care of all of it. The VTEC engine is just amazing - from 1.7L, I got 170 hp, with only a ram air intake which I installed myself. Great performance and good mileage (not stellar, note, but very good). I liked the look and feel of the car very much. Low-slung body made handing great. Engine had great exhaust sound. Acura engineering just fantastic across the board. Only complaints: the transmission needed a 6th speed, the shifter needed closer gears, brake dust tended to tarnish alloy rims.

Managed 0-60 in about 7 seconds weighing around 2500 lbs with only 115 foot-pounds of torque. Amazing!

Hi, I have a 92 GSR and I was wondering why it kinda chokes when I get to 4-45 thousand rpm??? If you step on the gas pedal on the way down, it chokes around that time, but just for that one quick second?

1992 Acura Integra GS 1.8 DOHC Non V-tec

Summary:

A high performance bargain

Faults:

My water pump went out at 113,000 miles.

The leather seats have started to wear out.

The radiator has a small leak at 110,000 miles.

Speeds 1 and 2 on the A/C do not work any more.

General Comments:

This car is pretty quick and handles real well.

I would recommend this car to everyone!

With regular maintwnance the car runs like it's brand new.

I've got a 1993 Black Integra GS-R and this year I came across the same problem. My fan settings 1 and 2 don't work anymore. 3-4 work perfectly.

Only problem I really have with the car is the windows. Have you noticed there is no frame around the top of the window. I think that is what has caused my driver and passenger windows to get some scratches.

Other than then the b17a1 is a great engine. Great compression ratio 10:0:1.. The car is quick as long as you don't have a lot of weight in the car.

I bought a blue '92 Integra last year and I absolutely LOVE my car. The only problems I have had with it is the motor in the antenna is shot so when it goes up or down it makes a grinding noise. I also had to replace the stock am/fm cass. deck because the radio preset stations would skip from one station to another, I just gave up and set them all to the same station. I am getting a tune up in a couple of days so I might have some major repairs that I don't know about yet... (cross my fingers that nothing big is wrong with it).

For the people with the fan problem... all you need to do is purchase a new blower motor resistor from the dealer for about $20. To replace the bad one, all you have to do is remove the passenger glovebox and it will be down and to the right. Two screws and its off, just snap the new one in.
