1994 Acura Integra LS 1.8L

Summary:

Even over 150k miles, still one of the most sporty and dependable cars on the road

Faults:

I replaced the radiator at 155k after a crack and radiator fluid leakage due to a crack. The radiator I replaced was the factory-installed original.

The car is rusting above the wheel-well.

The oil pan gasket is leaking a little, but not much.

One of the pins in the rear brakes was essentially welded in one position, restricting its free movement and caused a sound that lasted for a few seconds when the brakes were applied during city driving. This was fixed with the combination of pulling the pin up and down and using WD-40 to free the rust up. Problem occurred at approximately 157000 miles.

Replaced rear brake pads at the same time rear pin was fixed.

General Comments:

I purchased my 94 Integra with 144000 miles three years ago.

The car is the two door model.

I am now approaching the 160000 mile mark.

Rear seat may be small for some.

I love this car! I look forward to taking the car to 200000+ miles.

I am look forward to using it to commute to the university this fall.

Update: just hit 170k miles; changed the tires and changed the oil. I have had no problems since writing my original review (see above). I can't say enough about how great this car has been.

My '94 Integra (we bought for our three kids) is just a couple of hundred miles shy of 150K. Unfortunately, my oldest son (now a 19 year old college freshman) dented the rear quarter panel shortly after he started driving. I am now considering investing a few hundred of dollars to fix the dent and a few other small dings and see if I can coax it to 200K.

Summary:

Great power for a compact car!

Faults:

The stock radiator had cracked and had to replace it with a new one. Total cost of the replacement radiator was $120 with one year warranty. I did the labor myself, including all new radiator hoses.

Rust is starting on the rear quarter panel where the rear bumper and quarter panel connect by the wheel-well. Take off the black stripping around the wheel-well, by taking it off it prevents the rust from happening. I was a little late with mine.

Replaced the valve cover gasket. That was leaking onto the engine.

Noticed my oil pan gasket is leaking very little, but needs to be fixed sometime shortly.

My stock exhaust rattles. This was because of the heat shields, so I took all of mine off.

The stock seats are nice because they seem to have a racing feel to them. They are nice because you fit in them very well. But my back sometimes gets sore from the curvature on the back of the seat.

General Comments:

I love how the car looks stock. It is very unique and the 2 and 4 doors are very appealing.

Very quick car, for not having to do so many mods to it.

Still provides an ok rating for gas mileage in town, but does exceptional on the highway. great for traveling!

Although the GSR and type R have the VTEC motor, the LS motor can with stand the most boost when turbocharging.

Handles great stock, very easy to drive. With some new suspension mods, and strut bars and sway bars this car is incredible around turns.

I would definitely purchase another in the future.
