1991 Acura Legend LS 4 door sedan V6

Summary:

The car of my dreams

Faults:

Power antenna failed at 117,000 miles.

Driver side window slows to crawl.

Left-rear passenger window gets off track. How, I don't know.

Front seats suffer from sun damage.

ABS system needed repairs at 123,000 miles.

Stock amplifier went bad due to manufacturer defect.

Buggy alarm system. Master key won't disengage the system.

General Comments:

Besides the electronic problems and the buggy alarm system, if I had a chance to buy this car over again, I would. My Legend is 12 years old and it drives like it's fresh off the assembly line.

The Legend handles superbly and when pushed the car never fails to deliver. The ride is nice and quiet, and feels like you're on air except when you hit a pothole or rough road.

The leather is showing it's age, mainly because of heat and it's just plain old. Although the two-tone interior is pleasing to the eye.

I'm mad at the fact Acura, instead of giving the LS aluminum door handles on the inside, they put some sort of aluminum foil type material over a plastic door handle.

The wood grain in the car really shows that it is fake because it has a plastic feel.

Either way, this car is excellent, classy and really says something about the owner.

Despite prices for brakes, the car is economical compared to a Beamer or Benz.

Excellent for a used car, and will last a life-time.

Don't neglect your Legend, because you will regret it!

1991 Acura Legend LS 3.2 DOHC

Summary:

Great car for the money I paid for

Faults:

The transmission jerks a little bit when accelerating, but there it has no problem going from 0-60 in aproximately 7-8 seconds. Althought when cold starting the car, the transmission jerks when put on drive. Like it wants to take off without pressing on the gas. The speedometer is going out too. It will mark the speed, then suddenly the needle will drop down to 0 mph. The passenger side power reclining motor went out. The A/C compressor went out as well.

General Comments:

Overall the cars appearance is magnificent. I get a lot of compliments on its looks and style. It runs great and smooth. Just some routine maintenance and it will run like new.

Your transmission is going out. The transmissions for these cars are very expensive. My advice get shot of it while you can.

You can pick up a relatively cheap used transmission with low miles if ever needed. One database you can use is car-part.com.

Replace transmission fluid with Honda ATF.

It is the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). It is a lot cheaper than a tranny you don't need. I almost assure you, that is the problem. It's no big deal.

1991 Acura Legend L coupe 3.2

Summary:

Low Performance, Very costly

Faults:

Alternator went up a 38,000 miles.

Cheap cloth interior has led too many rips in my seats. my gas gage and fuel pump went up at the same time. Very expensive and not worth the money.

General Comments:

The performance is not all that good. I have driven other cars with four cylinders and they have more pickup and go power then in this slow moving coupe. I don't plan on buying any other cars from Acura or any other import. They are not that stylish and are definitely not worth the money.

He must have had a bad experience with this car, my 91 rolls out. I have had the master cylinder go out, heads went out on the engine after it was stolen. I replaced the engine in 2001. It takes on a lot of 8 cylinders and beats very quick off the line and makes lane changing easy. This car handles very well for the size. I've had the car since 97 and never have been stranded.

It always starts up when I go get in it although now at 180,000 the transmission is showing its age, but even with that it still shifts smooth. All in all I'd buy another Legend. That's the platform Acura should have stayed with.
