1991 Buick Century Custom 3.3 V6

Summary:

God's gift to low income people.

Faults:

Starter died at 100,000 miles (-10 degrees)

Exhaust pipe worn out at 100,000 miles (rust)

Brake line worn out at 110,000 miles (rust)

General Comments:

This car is a GREAT investment. Not a chick magnet, but is comfortable and reliable. Engine is strong. Not a gas guzzler. This car is DIRT cheap and easy to maintain. Only bad side is this car loves Rust. For a car over 15 years old and I paid $1400 cash better than taking a bus. P.S. the stereo system is pretty good for a cheap car like this.

Summary:

There has been better vehicles built

Faults:

The A/C compressor went at 95 000 kms.

Power Steering pump is squealing.

Seats have started to come apart at the seams.

Radio Antenna will not go up or down, stays running constantly. I have to pull the fuse to turn it off.

General Comments:

The car is a gas guzzler. I have to fill up every 4-5 days and it usually costs about 60 to fill up.

It's a 15 year old car, not many miles on it, so why are you complaining about it? Expect things to break apart or wear apart, if the vehicle isn't driven much, or a lot.

I've pretty well had same problems, plus more on my 91 LeSabre. Its normal, and all cars go through it before they reach the end of their life..

Summary:

Engineering Marvel, my hat's off to Buick

Faults:

Air conditioning compressor at 146000 miles.

General Comments:

Diamond in the rough. My friend was going to junk the car, he thought the engine was seized. It was such a nice car, I bought it for $50 and worked on it myself. It turned out the compressor was seized and I had the car running for another $50.

Beautiful car, strong running 3.3 V6 even with 164,000 miles. Doesn't burn a drop of oil and has awesome acceleration when needed. It feels much sportier than a 4dr sedan.

Wouldn't sell the car for $2500.

1991 Buick Century Custom 3.3 V6

Summary:

Excellent

Faults:

Idler pulley went out at 150,000 miles.

Alternator at 200,000 miles.

Fuel injectors at 175,000.

General Comments:

This car is awesome. Very little work required to keep operating. The engine is very good and reliable. I would still be driving this car, but it was involved in accidents. The first the rear quarter panel was damaged, then the rear right side, and the final was the front right side. The final accident severely damaged the car and the frame. Although the engine was almost sideways, it still started and ran as always. It really did better in all of its accidents then the other vehicles. The vehicles that was involved with were: a ford explorer, mercury cougar and a Chevy cavalier. I really do miss this car. This 3.3 v6 is a lot better of an engine then the 3.1 v6 in my new car. These century's are virtually indestructible and last forever and ever.

1991 Buick Century Custom 3.3 V6

Summary:

Great vehicle for first time buyers

Faults:

When I had purchased the car, it needed shocks, brakes, and lights.

Power steering needs fluid once in a while.

Front seat needs a bolt.

Other than that, excellent shape.

General Comments:

The V-6 3300 is a very powerful, reliable, and ease of maintenance engine. It has lots of power.

My friends thought I had bought a lemon. Turns out, the Buick Century proves to be an almost costless vehicle. Though I have bought shocks, brakes, lights, and new inspection stickers, the car has proves to be very reliable and durable.

1991 Buick Century Custom 6 cylinder

Summary:

This is definitely in which to invest.

Faults:

Cruise control, turn signal lever on wheel, and tires were replaced when I bought the car in December of 2001, at 99,000 miles.

Engine began rattling at 107,000 miles, but has stopped with an oil change and lube.

Replaced serpentine belt at 108,000 miles.

General Comments:

I really enjoy my car.

It has held up fairly well with a recent college graduate that drives a lot as its primary (and basically only) driver. (I am very protective of my car and very cautious of who drives it.)

The condition is wonderful. The previous owner really took care of the car. The seating looks brand new. The car still has the original coat of paint on it and it still looks good. There are no signs of rust anywhere.

It is very reliable. I have driven over 9,000 miles in the last 6 months due to commuting to and from college and work. The car has not let me down. It has not given me any major problems. I feel that this car is definitely a car to invest in.

I love my car. I take care of my car and make sure it gets the recommended oil change/lube every 3 months/3,000 miles. If there is a weird noise, I make sure the car gets in the shop to be looked at. I drive defensively in my car, although rather fast at times, in order to keep from getting in accidents.

My theory is that to have a good car, there must be a driver-car relationship. You take care of it, it will take care of you.

I have driven my family's Buick Century for about a year now and its great! I love it even though it is a grandma car. Before it was mine it looked great until my dad got in an accident during the winter, gave it a great dimple you could say. The paint hasn't held up like this reviewsaid their's has, but it is smooth and powerful. Runs 100% better than my friends '95 Ford Escort LX. Great at 65-75mph on the through-way. Hers may look nicer, but mine is a far better car.

Summary:

The best K-Car out there

Faults:

Suspension problem with front right suspension system causing pull to the right. Fixed easily and cheaply.

General Comments:

This car has seen it all, and will probably survive until it explodes or falls apart. One of the most reliable cars I've ever seen.

Huh?? The Buick Century isn't a K-car... The K-car chassis was designed by Chrysler and was used on the Dodge Aries/Plymouth Reliants ect. Also used on the Dodge Shadow/Plymouth Sundance. No such thing as a K-car Century.

As the above commentor said (8 years ago - LOL), the Century isn't a K car. But to anyone wondering, I thought I would clarify that it's a General Motors A-platform.
