2016 Buick LaCrosse 6

Amazing value for what you get

Too new to say.

General Comments:

We have 5 vehicles already. No twins are the same. Just picked this one up. Wanted a large sedan with a trunk. Passed on Cadillac due to reliability of late. Lincoln was another consideration, but decided on Buick. Wanted a large comfortable daily driver to take anywhere without concerns with parking dents or scrapes, taking into work etc. A great all around value.

The newer ones have nice styling, but likely appeal more to the older set. We are now in that category and why not. We like the heads up display, push button start, climate control, back up camera, lane and accident avoidance, and the nice leather interior.

Very quiet and smooth ride. It’s hard to hear that it even started. A lot of amenities.

Reviews on newer ones show high reliability. Nice if you don’t like sitting in a dealer maintenance department.

If you like the idea of owning a large sedan, this is a nice pick. Amazing interior. MPG shows 22 MPG overall on ours. Haven’t had it long enough to comment on issues. There’s a lot of bells and whistles in this car.

If you are into doing oil changes, this appears easy. The oil filter is accessible in the front from the top.

2007 Buick LaCrosse CXL 3.8L V6

Best car I've ever had!

ABS harness. Harness was already damaged when I bought the car, got it repaired, then it broke again a couple months later. I've just left it alone.

Engine eats through oil, which apparently is very common with this series of the 3.8L V6 (Series III). I always keep a quart of oil in my trunk for when the "low oil" indicator comes on the dash.

General Comments:

I love this car, and purchased it for a steal ($6500 with only 68k at the time, car was 8 years old). The car is now 10 years old and so far has been extremely reliable. The 3.8L V6 really is a fantastic engine and can last 200k+ if you take care of it. Hopefully mine will!

The car has a very floaty ride. Lots of body roll during turns and handling is a little sloppy, but it's an old school Buick, what do you expect.

Extremely comfortable seats.

Acceleration is just right for the size and kind of car. Obviously it's poorer when the A/C is on.

Very elegant styling. Mine's red with tan leather and the Chrome Package. I get compliments on it once in a while!

2011 Buick LaCrosse 3.6

I bought 8 brand new cars from 2003-2011 for me and my family. All 6 were Nissan and I did not have any problems with them.

This time I thought I'd buy a luxury car, and I bought a Buick LaCrosse from 2011. Every time I go to do an oil change, they find a new issue or I find it by myself.

I believe this was a defective car that they sold to me. I have never heard of 3 year old cars having water pump problems or oil leak issues. Mine had, and I called GM and they did not do anything.

So what issues were there? It would be interesting to know, as many people read this website to find common problems.

8 brand new cars in 8 years? Must be nice! Whatever you do for work, you must good at it LOL.

2005 Buick LaCrosse CXS 3.6L DOHC V6

This year of the Lacrosse has too many downfalls

- Power steering leak at fitting onto the pump.

- Driver's side window switch defective.

- Sunroof seal leak.

- Massive oil blow-by leaking through PCV-Less system into air intake and causing the MAF to get dirty.

- Aluminum rims causing air to leak out.

- Warped brake rotors.

- Transmission is starting to "buck" when it is warmed up.

General Comments:

The DOHC V6 3.6L engine is flawed in this year and certain years. It has massive blow-by of oil. This is not uncommon. Apparently there are problems with the steering also on this model, which I have not experienced. Personally, I think the way the car steers is a road hazard. The Lacrosse of this year is really uncomfortable to steer in general.

Overall, the car has not left us stranded. Although it does have its problems.

The gas mileage is absolutely terrible. 17 MPG average. Sometimes about 20 MPG. This is with a full tune-up and a cleaned MAF.

I would not recommend this car or any GM car with the 3.6L DOHC engine.
