1984 Buick LeSabre Limited

Summary:

Lots of room - lots of zoom!

Faults:

Transmission replaced before I bought it.

Replaced A/C compressor at 85000.

Replaced antennae at 90000 (got stuck).

Replaced headliner at 101000.

Replaced several turn signal bulbs.

Usual interval service for oil/brakes/fluids.

General Comments:

It's a living room on wheels! Super comfortable, but with lots of zoom when you floor it. Cabin is quiet, and car floats down the road in classic Buick style. Very solid feel, built like an elegant tank.

Size is serious. Interior great for big drivers/riders. 6 passengers is no problem. Trunk is massive. Front end has more metal than some whole cars. Yet it gets almost 20 mpg!

I usually drive it in the summer. Rear wheel drive not the best in Minnesota winter conditions.

Favorite car to take to the drive-in restaurant. Fun to sit in and socialize.

Classic style, classic statement: solid, comfortable, elegant, powerful.

1984 Buick LeSabre Custom 5.0 307 V8

Summary:

It is an excellent, very reliable, comfortable good looking and roomy car

Faults:

Radiator needed replaced when I bought it.

Put new tires on it.

Transmission leaks.

Rear bumper chrome is starting to mess up.

General Comments:

Bought this 1984 Buick Le Sabre Custom in October 2007. Only had 41,000 original miles on it. Looked like a brand new car.

It is truly a beautiful looking car. This thing will be a classic one day. The Olds 307 V8 is an excellent running motor. It runs smooth, it's got the power when you need it, and it isn't bad on gas for a V8. I've put over 100,000 miles on it in less than a year, and had no problems at all. You usually hear bad things about the olds 307, but take it from somebody who has owned and driven one, It is a great motor. I can smash the gas pedal from a dead stop and smoke the tires down the street. It's not the fastest car in the world, but it will get up and move with no problem whatsoever. When the Quadrajet carb kicks in you can hear the rumble of the V8 there is nothing else quite like it.

The car is built exceptionally well. The interior still looks new, the car hasn't started to rust or anything. Very well made vehicle, Too bad car's aren't made like this anymore. These cars will last forever.

The interior is very roomy and will seat 6 with no problem at all. Very comfortable seats, unlike anything in cars built today. Beautiful interior with wood grain and chrome accents all over the inside.

The only problem I had with the car is the transmission has been leaking, and the rear bumper chrome has started to peel off on the bottom left side.

How did you manage to put over 100,000 miles on a car in one years time? Do you drive from coast to coast non stop?

1984 Buick LeSabre Limited 307 4-barrel

Summary:

Good car for the long haul

Faults:

Bought car from estate of a 84 year old man for $800.

Mileage is original,

But, like anything that is 20 years old, it needed some updates.

Carb. rebuilt,

All hoses and belts replaced.

Waterpump replaced.

All brakes and shocks replaced.

Catylitic converter replaced along with new exhaust system.

All new air-conditioning system.

General Comments:

Bought car just to have something cheap while I looked for another "beauty"!

But, 4 years and $3000 later, I still own the thing.

You just can't kill it.

Rides good, although the a-frames bushes are squeaking now (need replaced).

Its been a good car, cheap, I have replaced things that probably the avergae Joe would not have because of its age, but, I had to have air-conditioning ($800).

No car payment, cheap on insurance, after the initial year I bought it, I just throw about $400 in it a year.

Paint is faded and the vinyl top has seen its better days, but the interior still looks really good!
