2000 Buick LeSabre Custom 3.8L six

Summary:

Will get another Buick, or high end GM

Faults:

Not very much has gone wrong with this car; purchased with 140k on it from an older driver, who probably treated it with respect.

Replaced the entire braking system and done general maintenance.

The windows failed, but this was my own fault. It was an electronics issue. You see, I had my windows open during a rain storm. The console got soaked. The window mechanics have not been repaired or replaced, just the electronics console.

I have been having problems with the passlock security system, declaring my keys as 'unknown driver'.

Now here's the catch. I don't even get to turn the keys before I know there is a problem, because as I walk to the car and hit the unlock button, this fails. I know she won't start either.

I have taken cabs a few times, but now know of the ten minute reset procedure, and the 30 minute procedure, and GUESS WHO JUST MISSED AN APPOINTMENT AND DECIDED TO POST ON A FORUM, AND GUESS WHAT CAUSED ME TO MISS THAT APPT?

You guessed it, passlock.

So another 20 minutes and she oughta be reset. Ahhhhhh...

Here is some new information: this only happens when the weather is very humid, as it is today.

I wonder if this would ever happen in winter?

General Comments:

Loads of power, clean and consistent acceleration, and very clean steering column, very responsive.

Has a heavy braking system, capable of slowing the behemoth quickly and cleanly.

Sluggish and heavy suspension system, hard to park in the city. Requires more fineness and patience to drive efficiently. Not a sports car (at all), but it has a lot of low end torque, and can tear up to 80 km/h rapidly. A definite highway car; very comfortable for long trips (reasonably efficient at highway speeds).

2000 Buick LeSabre Limited 3.8L V6

Summary:

One of the best vehicles ever!

Faults:

The rear window motors have both failed within two weeks of each other! We replaced them, and in less than a year they both broke again. This is the only problem we've had.

General Comments:

My grandmother bought her 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited in 2008. She upgraded from a 1990 Buick LeSabre Custom, which she bought in 1998 and drove until 2008. It had 262,000 miles on it, but it lasted for a long time with little maintenance.

The 2000 model is wonderful! It has all the bells and whistles, and is very roomy and comfortable.

We have done nothing to the car mechanically; however, the rear window motors both have failed. We installed new ones on both doors, as they both quit within two weeks. In less than a year they have failed again!

This is the only problem we have experienced with the car. It runs like a brand new one, and is clean as a whistle. We love all the extra features on it.

I drove the car to college when I got out of high school, and I wouldn't mind having one for myself. I would trade my 2002 Grand Prix SE for one in a heartbeat.

Anyway, the car is awesome and we love it. My Grandma and Grandpa wouldn't trade it for anything! It's super-nice and stylish. A 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited is a great car, and worth the money.

My grandparents were the second owners of the car. The previous owner bought it new and paid a little over $30,000 dollars for it. It was worth every penny, though. I would recommend one of these cars to anyone.

2000 Buick LeSabre Custom

Summary:

Has a few minor problems, but good in the long run

Faults:

First off, I know several owners of this same model have had problems with the window motors going out. Fortunately we have not, unfortunately the former owner did and replaced all 4 window motors; since they've been replaced he has not had a problem, and now that we own it, we have not either.

Main thing is the air conditioner compressor, it went out on us just today. The bad thing is about the set up and with most new cars is if the AC compressor is out, it messes with the whole system, and if it stops, your car will stop.

Being that we live where it is cold, and the man we purchased the car from lives where it is cold, the AC is hardly used. Makes it even more unfortunate that it messed up so soon.

We have 69,000 miles on the car. I know every car needs repairs here and there, but I read of another person having the same problem when their car was only at 49,000 miles.

I love the car, haven't had any problems till this.

General Comments:

Great comfort, smooth ride, lots of space, and runs extremely well. AC and Heat cool and heat extremely fast. In general a great reliable car.
