General Comments:

I wrote to Buick yet again to ask them what they intend to do about recurring problems with this vehicle.

Their response: What problems?

I pointed out the numerous internet sites with owner complaints of the EXACT same issues over and over again.

Their response: We aren't aware of these issues and we are truly sorry you have been disappointed with your vehicle.

Disappointment doesn't begin to cover it. I can't afford to keep the car. Trade in value is laughable. My daughter's '99 Honda is worth more than my '02 Rendezvous which I paid $26,000 for!! I pointed this out in my letter.

Buick had no response for that one.

Please write complaint letters to Buick and to the NHTSB. Addresses can be found online. Maybe, just maybe it will help someone else. As for me, I plan to take what little money I can get on my trade in and buy a Honda.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CXL

Summary:

A very poor choice new or used

Faults:

Intake Manifold Gasket, brakes at 40K, wheel bearings at 68K, 120k, 167K, air conditioning condenser at 120K, brakes at 80K-complete replacement, transmission at 160k, blown head gasket at 172K. Hood finish is corroding on drivers side trailing edge.

General Comments:

This is a good car for what it appears to be - a crossover SUV. However, reliability issues have completely extinguished any positives. Several recalls and difficulty in getting GM relief on known defect repairs leave the consumer with a bad financial risk with little residual value on resale.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CXL 3.8

Summary:

Will be a great vehicle once I take care of my minor problems

Faults:

First off let me say that for the most part love my Rendezvous. I haven't had all of the problems that the rest of you have had. However, I have had all of my wheel bearings replace and rotors machined, but they still make noise.

I have also noticed in the last two trips to my in-laws, which is a 12 hour trip, the vehicale used 4 qts of oil just on the way there, but not back. This to me is very confusing. I have 14 years of experience in servicing vehicle's and have never come across my particular problem. I have checked every possible area that would indicate any oil usage and have found no leaks or indication that it is burning oil I AM STUMPED.

General Comments:

This is by far the the nicest vehicle I have ever owned.

It handles very nicely.

My Rendezvous has AWD and the day I purchased it I tested out its off-road capabilities, and it proves to be quite excellent in fairly deep snow and moderate mud. Now, some of you might be wondering why I tested the vehical the way I did.

Well, I like to go ice fishing and I burn wood in the heating season. As some of you know the snow on a lake can get quite deep, and when cutting wood you can run into some pretty good mud holes. So I needed to know if the vehicle could handle all that I could throw at it.

Of course when I purchased it in the spring of 07 I didn't have a lot of snow, but I did have a good amount of mud. It wasn't until this winter that I knew what it could handle for snow. To my suprise I was Four wheeling through knee high snow and still had enough traction to go through deeper.

My wife really loves the seat warmers and sunroof.

The acceleration is amazing.
