2002 Buick Rendezvous CX 3.4

Summary:

We are very disappointed with Buick and GM!

Faults:

Left front wheel bearing replaced at 19000, shortly after we bought it.

Airbag light came on spontaneously at 25000, with no accident.

Head gasket blown at 37000, not under warranty.

AWD disables and ABS engages; this started at 75000 and is still not resolved.

Replaced three wheel bearings, yet again!!! 88000.

Wiring issues throughout ownership.

General Comments:

It does not hold up well, even with regular maintenance.

We would have gotten rid of it long ago, if it did not book so low, as we owe about 5000 dollars more than it is worth.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CX 6 cylinder

Summary:

Avoid this vehicle

Faults:

My air conditioning condenser was replaced at under 50,000.00 miles.

The tie rods have had to be replaced.

The air bag sensor module has just failed and will have to be replaced (no accidents at all). The dealer cannot explain why this would happen. (Onstar called me to tell me I had been in an accident and my airbag had deployed which was not the case)

Electrical problems: for example, periodically the radio will come on and it cannot be tuned, adjusted for volume or turned off, even when the car is turned off and the key is out. Dealer has not been able to find out what is wrong, even when I drove in while it was happening. I have learned to take the radio fuse out, wait a minute or two then plug it back in which fixes this bizarre problem until the next time. Also, back-up warning chime will get stuck and not turn off even when the car is put back in drive.

Fuel tank sensor (gas level) failed at 65,000 miles and had to be replaced.

Now speedometer has started swinging wildly back and forth without warning.

Had a lot of fuel injector problems when the car was new, had to be replaced twice.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CXL

Summary:

I don't feel the car was worth the money

Faults:

My problems first began after 10 months of owning the car. The seats would heat up with the heat turned off. I took it to the shop 3 times. The 3rd time the dealer wanted to take the heating module out. I said that's fine if you refund me the difference; needless to say they fixed it. But I've never turned it on for fear it will heat up again.

Next my right mirror would rotate non-stop with ignition off. Had to turn the ignition on to stop it.

My radio would play while I tried to listen to the CD player. Thankfully both were under warranty.

My condenser went out at 40,000 miles under warranty. My warranty is now up and I'm considering trading the car, after all the previous reviews. I will never buy another Buick.

General Comments:

This car however is very comfortable, and I get a lot of comments on its smooth ride. I know other people with much less costly cars, with none of the problems I have had.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CX

Summary:

This car is not bad the problem is GM parts and mechanics.

Faults:

This was my first new car from a dealer and I am not happy with spending so much money for more expensive problems. Many things went wrong when it was under warranty and now I am kicking myself for not selling it after the warranty expired. The problem that is killing me today is the Body Control Module (BCM). The instruments on the dash board will loose power while driving as if the car was turned Off this happened in 2004. I took it in to the dealer and they replaced the BCM and everything was back to normal. Today July 2007 it is happening again and it is worse. Even when the car is off with the key out of the ignition everything that is electrical is turning on and off. My doors and rear hatch are opening the horn is honking and headlights turning on and off. I call this problem the "Herbie" affect. I hope it doesn't spray oil on me. The cost for a new BCM is $275.00 from the dealer. Many auto shops do not sell it and to get to the BCM and replace it the entire center console has to be removed. There is no way I am taking it to the dealer. Go to Pick Your Parts get it for $70.00 disconnect the 3 harness connections on the driver side above the fuse box and plug it in your self. Because I think it will happen again.

General Comments:

This car is good on fuel and handles very well for its size. Other cars similar to this one have very limited space. It can carry more than a Chevy Tahoe or a Ford Explorer.
