1990 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 3.1 mfi V6

Summary:

It will show you bang for buck... point blank

Faults:

Lots of grease on the engine.

Worn carpet.

Broken turn signal arm.

Light crease in the p/s fender.

No radio.

Bad regulators in both doors.

Small dent behind d/s door.

When I bought it, the engine would stall and sputter, but a quick fix took care of that, and it sounds great now.

General Comments:

This one is the 3.1 z24 ($300). I had the base model 89 Cavi ($400) about 9 years ago, and it had a 2.0 4 banger.

It wasn't very fast in the top end (85 mph), but it could handle 60 70 degree two lane turns at terrifying speed.

Accurate and smooth.

Small things go wrong, but you can't ask for less. If you don't like this car, you're nuts!

Sleek body straight from the dealer.

Sound... 2 impp comp series 12's pounded the rear view off (gorillaz - Clint Eastwood - yeah) the acoustics are amazing.

All in all, I can't wait to get the more powerful, better handling version on the road.

1990 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 3.1 Port Injected V6

Summary:

Bad interior but Good fun

Faults:

Engine wise nothing has gone wrong with this vehicle.

Interior wise is a different story...

Headliner is falling out.

Powerlocks are noisy and only work when they want.

The center arm rest fell off.

The top of the dashboard is sun cracked and warped.

Most of the "paint" on the windshield wiper and lights lever are worn out.

Really poor workmanship on everything inside the car. Flimsy buttons and delicate levers.

As of recently the fuel meter has been whacked out not reading the fuel accurately... ANNOYING.

General Comments:

This car is a love-hate relationship. The inside comfort isn't the worst of a compact car I've rode in but by far not the best either. The suspension is sport stiff and you'll feel out every bump but rarely jolted. The room on the inside is extremely snug for only two people unless toddlers were placed in the back. The car handles alright and has some peppy performance. The best part has to be the balance between its peppy performance and mpg. I'm surprised by how many things still work in this car for its age yet I'm displeased by things that have broken that shouldn't of been.

1990 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 3.1

Summary:

I LOVE this car

Faults:

I had 3 problems with my car. One was a gas leak which was caused by me so doesn't really count towards the car. The other was one day it overheated which was also my fault. After overheating I let it sit for an hour while in a meeting and then drove 22miles home without any further problems. And continued to drive this car for about 6 months until I was in an accident and totaled it. Slight leak in sunroof.

Other than that I have no complaints.

While owning this car I replaced.

Seats.

Stereo.

Speakers.

Carpet.

Rims.

Tires.

Spark Plugs.

Spark Plug wires.

Basicly all the money I put into this car was cosmetic with the exseption of spark plugs and spark plug wires.

General Comments:

This is the best car I have ever had and am looking into getting another to restore. Had I not had an accident an totaled the car I would still have it to this day. I wanted to keep mine after the accident, but it would have cost way to much money and at the time I just moved out of my parents place and started a new job. So with the bills I already had I was broke and had no place to store it.

Power window switches have started to ware out, and one track for the window was damaged, and repaired.

General Comments:

Runs Great and have know several other people who own the same car and the mileage of 2 of these cars is in excess of 300,000 miles Thanks GM for a great car and fun to drive!

One of the nicest, and Quickest cars I have ever owned, I bought it used for work and drive it Daily, I wish they had used a Over drive automatic for better mileage.
