1999 Chevrolet Cavalier 2dr. coupe 2.2L 4 cylinder.

Summary:

Great car for the money

Faults:

So far nothing has gone wrong with this car. Except when the engine is cold there is a slight tapping noise. Which I have read is normal.

General Comments:

I love this car, it is a very rare green color, in which I have never seen this color before. It is beautiful, I was a little scared to go from a boat to a inter-tube. But so far it has been fine. you don't normally notice how small the car is when you are the only one, but when you try to fit in more than 4 people it gets a little cramped. But there is always plenty of room in the trunk for the extra people. Or other stuff.

I am really enjoying the get up and go that this car has. I am not sure how the gas mileage is, but I am guessing that it is very good.

1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 2.4 TwinCam, 150HP - 150Lbs Torque

Summary:

A Cheap ROCKET!

Faults:

The suspension is to high, it ruins all the sports look of the Z24. I can enter a complete fist between the right tire and the car. (that's more like a stylish problem)

A weird noise coming from the transmission at 30-40 kph. (nothing important)

The floor mat stick under the clutch pedal after 3/4 days of driving, making it hard to pull out (the clutch).

Quite non-original plain dashboard and steering wheel.

The hand-brake handle is very badly placed.

The car speed is limited to 172 kph : (

General Comments:

Since my engine is stock, I can really tell that this is quite a little rocket. I've beaten a lot of cars with it such as Sebrings LXi, Civics, GSR, '92 5.0l, etc..

Would be way more fun to drive with a supercharger tough...

The stock suspension gives good handling, but not enough for me. That's why I dropped it 2" with GoldLine Springs, which gives me a lot more better handling.

I always fueled it with 91 octane Supreme Fuel.

It has 150 HP at the wheels and 150lbs of torque.

You beat a 5.0l mustang with a z-24? Did he know you were racing him??

There is no way a little Cavalier can out-run a 5.0 liter Mustang unless it wasnt racing you.

Mustang must have been running like a bag, or you only thought he was given er, I only say this because I can't think of any other way an 88 Accord could beat one, unless you got some extensive engine and drive train modifications.

1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 2.4L Gas

Summary:

A dependable, fun to drive car

Faults:

Horn required extra effort to engage.

Had an odd, vibrating sound that came from the bottom of the car at 1,200 RPM's. Eventually went away on it's own.

General Comments:

I was surprised by how much pep this car had. It seemed like it had a 6 cylinder in it after about 3,500 RPM's. Handling was above average too. Shifter was a tad clunky.

While the interior looked good and was comfortable, the build quality seemed cheap at times. There were parts around the door where the carpet was coming loose from under the plastic trim for instance. All of the instruments and controls were easy to read and reach.

What I liked best about the car was the small things that were included in the package. For example, I liked how the radio increased the volume level as the speed of the car increased and I liked the keyless entry feature (doors and trunk).

Overall this was a fun little car to own. I would love to have another one especially since there are quite a bit of after-market parts that have become available for it.

Bryan.

1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Z-24 2.4 Twin Overhead Cam

Summary:

Sharp looking and affordable

Faults:

Heater motor made a clicking noise.

Water pump was starting to leak.

Both were under warranty and repaired by the dealer.

General Comments:

This car is a great choice for an individual who wants a sportier car without sticker shock. Handles very well and gives you some bang for your buck even with a 4 cylinder.

Lacks legroom in the backseat, but how often do you really have people back there anyways?

Easy to customize to your liking. Parts readily available from numerous outlets.
