1978 Chevrolet Impala Station Wagon 350 Gas

Summary:

I don't know how a car could be any better!

Faults:

Original 350 Engine replaced at 200k miles.

Original Transmission replaced at 210k miles.

Suspension items have been replaced, wear items such as exhaust replaced numerous times.

Various electrical items such as alternator and starter replaced a couple of times.

General Comments:

I was given this wagon from parents during high school in 1986, and have been driving it as my only car ever since. It has been very reliable, and even with 235k miles on the clock it still looks and drives great and is very comfortable. I maintain it well, and hope it will last another 27 years. It is big and gets bad gas mileage, but it has never owed me a dime due to dependability, and I would never trade it for a cheaply made new car.

1978 Chevrolet Impala 2 door coupe 305 2 bbl

Summary:

If it works, STICK WITH IT!

Faults:

In over 10 plus years of owning this car, I can't think of too many negatives. In essence, the car is 22 years old, and I have had to replace many of the original parts that have gone out, but that's basic maintenance, but given the excellent condition of the car, and it's dependability through the years, and the fact that it IS PAID FOR, it's been WELL WORTH IT! The one BIG negative about the car is, it keeps going, and going, and that's good, but finding remanufactured body parts for this year car is something I wish would get going, and going!

General Comments:

The Chevrolet Impala has always been my "Dream Car", and in many of the quality years the car has given me, the reality is, the car has been a dream to own! Bottom line is, I wanted to drive what I like, and to this day, I like what I drive!

The 1978 Impala is a very sweet car, I had one and I am looking to getting another one. The only problems I had with it were I wrecked the tranny, but I raced it. I respect you for thinking the '78 Impala is your dream car because it's mine too.
