1994 Chrysler LHS

Summary:

This has been a wonderful car for us

Faults:

New AC at 175,000 miles.

Replaced the transmission at 145,000 miles.

General Comments:

This has been a wonderful, roomy and comfortable car. It handles well and is gas efficient. It has good traction on snow.

The V6 engine has been trouble free. It has great response and handles well on slippery roads in Southern WI winters.

After reading the comments elsewhere on this site, we must be lucky.

In my review (December 2008) of our Chrysler LHS 1994, saying, "we must be lucky", it was not mentioned we purchased this car new and that it now has 211,000 miles. Modest starts and stops combined with owners manual service pays off with longevity.

1994 Chrysler LHS 3.5 V6

Summary:

SUCKS!! DONT BUY ONE

Faults:

These cars suck!!! the dependability is terrible, this is how it started.

1- tie rods

2- rotors brake replacement

3- water pump

4- alignment

5- starter failed

6- alarm system failed (unable to start car for 3 weeks)

7- electrical failures (doors, ac, windows, nothing worked!!)

8- transmission failures.

This car is too much work...

I've been going to the junk yards finding cheap parts because having a mechanic do all this work is not worth the trouble or money.

I've fixed most of the problems my self, but the having to put too much time and money into this piece of s**t isn't worth it.

I would rather buy a used crown victoria or buick at a cop auction for the amount I put into my LHS.

The only good thing out of this car is that I learned as much as I could from a 3.5L v6 engine.

General Comments:

The only thing good to say is that I learned a lot about v6 3.5L engines.

1994 Chrysler LHS 3.5

Summary:

I would not hesitate to buy another if they still made them

Faults:

Headlight adjusters

Headlight Lenses Clouded Over

Side Trim Mouldings Fell off

Heater does not work well

Moon Roof air leak

Front wheel bearing

Rear wheel bearing

Brakes.

General Comments:

I have had really good luck from this car. Normal things have gone wrong, but nothing serious ever. It gets 23-28 MPG and has a lot of power to pass. It has 178000 on it and uses no oil. I have taken real good care of it, transmission flush, regular oil changes, and when something minor breaks, I fix it as soon as I can.

1994 Chrysler LHS

Summary:

I Love It!!

Faults:

Timing belt broke at 120,000

Transmission started going bad at 130,000.

General Comments:

This is a very reliable car. The only things that have gone wrong with it is the normal wear and tear of any normal car. I gave the transmission a flush and it fixed it completely. They charge a lot to do it in the shops, but any average joe off the street can do it. Just buy the Haynes Book and it will tell you step by step how to do the tranny flush.

When your timing belt went, did you have to replace the whole engine? Mine just broke and I think it was because of my water pump. When I talked to a mechanic, he said I'd have to replace the whole engine, so I was just wondering.

1994 Chrysler LHS

Summary:

Like my mom, still classy and beautiful

Faults:

Transmission rebuilt at 190,000. The drivers side Front seat back braces fractured so I removed them and had them welted. $5.00. Air conditioner has trouble remembering what to do, but I was shown how to reset it from the controls.

General Comments:

Overall, I really like this car and nothing happened that surprised me due to the unbeleivable mileage. The engine still runs like new and get 27 mpg on the highway. The body is still beautiful with probably the most comfortable seats I ever owned. I have three other cars and just keep this one for around town in the evening. Still has class.
